Poll: NH's GOP Voters 75.4% for Trump, 18.8% for Romney
By Michael W. Chapman
Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah) and President Donald Trump.
(CNSNews.com) -- A new poll in New Hampshire shows that if the Republican Party primary were held today, 75.4% of registered Republicans would vote for President Donald Trump and 18.8% of the GOP voters would back Sen. Mitt Romney (R-Utah).
When undeclared voters are put in the equation, the numbers shift to 58.6% for Trump and 27.6% for Romney.
In the survey of 593 registered voters in New Hampshire, the voters were asked, "If the Republican primary for President were being held today, and the candidates were Donald Trump and Mitt Romney, for whom would you vote? [Asked only to Republican and Undeclared respondents]."
(IVR polling)
For registered Republicans, 75.4% said Trump, 18.8% said Romney. (5.8% said they were unsure.)
With the Undeclared voters, however, 22.6% said Trump and 45.2% said Romney. (32.3% said they were unsure.)
For registered Democrats, the survey asked them, "Which of the following do you believe best represents the Democratic Party today?" Sen. Elizabeth Warren (D-Mass.) got the highest support with 43.9% of voters; socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez got 34% of voters; and Hillary Clinton came in third with 22.1%.
(IVR polling.)
If the election were held today, the survey found that Donald Trump would lose in New Hampshire to either Warren (53% to 41%), Bernie Sanders (54% to 40%), or Beto O'Rourke (47% to 40%).
New York governor justifies legalizing abortions up to birth: I’m not here to represent Catholicism
NEW YORK, January 28, 2019 (LifeSiteNews) – Governor Andrew Cuomo dug in his heels today, defending signing a law legalizing abortion up until birth while lashing out at Catholic bishops, some of whom increasingly speak of his future excommunication.
“The Catholic Church doesn’t believe in a woman’s right to choose...I understand their religious view,” said Cuomo in a WAMC radio interview, adding, “I’m not here to represent a religion.”
“I’m here to represent all the people and the constitutional rights and limitations for all the people, not as a Catholic,” asserted the governor.
Last week the governor signed into law a bill enshrining a woman’s absolute right to abortion, and then called for a city and state-wide celebration, going so far as to order the spire topping the One World Trade Center and other landmarks to be lit in pink.
Earlier today, New York City’s Cardinal Timothy Dolan did not mince words, saying that the abortion bill Cuomo signed into law is “ghoulish, grisly, and gruesome.”

“The fact that he’s a Catholic as far as I’m concerned has nothing to do with it,” said Dolan on “Fox & Friends.”
“Any thinking human being that would want a baby, allow a baby, to be aborted right up to the moment of birth...anybody who thinks that a baby who survives a gruesome abortion procedure and that a doctor is no longer required to attempt to save that baby’s life – you don’t have to be a Catholic to abhor those types of things,” continued Dolan.
“This is just awful,” said the cardinal, “and I don’t know why we would brag about this.”
Dolan pointed out that abortion proponents like Cuomo no longer claim they want to keep abortion “safe, legal, and rare.” It’s now “dangerous, enforced, and frequent.”
“Do you pop champagne corks for that, drink chablis, and eat brie? Do you light up the Empire State Building?” asked Dolan.
Dolan said he receives “wheelbarrows of letters” every day asking for Cuomo to be excommunicated.
“We have a governor that brags” about his differences with the Catholic Church’s teaching, said Dolan.
“We have a governor that uses his dissent from Church teachings as applause lines,” Dolan said. “We have a governor that takes quotes from Pope Francis out of context to draw an artificial cleavage between bishops of New York and the Holy Father himself.”
“He likes this. He likes being the...bad boy when it comes to the Catholic Church.”
Addressing Gov. Cuomo, Cardinal Dolan urged him, “this is hideous. Do not brag about making the state of New York the abortion capital of the world.”
“This is not an enlightened, progressive posture.”
While Cardinal Dolan has said repeatedly that he does not think excommunication is a proper response to Cuomo’s actions, a growing group of his fellow bishops have warmed up to the idea. Dolan has also been cagey about whether the prominent Catholic politician should be denied Holy Communion.
“Excommunication is a last resort, and as the Governor continues to distance himself from our [Catholic] communion, it may, unfortunately, result in that,” said Albany’s Bishop Edward Scharfenberger in a January 26 interview on Fox & Friends.
“My hope is that since his faith is important to him, he will reconsider the importance of maintaining that communion and not continue to distance himself,” said Scharfenberger.
“One can put themselves in the position whereby morally they cannot receive Communion at the altar rail,” he added. “And I think the governor is in that situation right now.”
Knoxville, Tennessee Bishop Richard Stika and Tyler, Texas Bishop Joseph Strickland have both publicly said that if Cuomo lived within their jurisdictions they would take action and possibly excommunicate the politician.
Strickland recently said that the new law amounts to “infanticide.”
Hey, So Much For That “We Won’t See Temps Below 10°F In Duluth” Global-Warming Argument, Eh?
ED MORRISSEY
How bad does the weather have to be to stop the Post Office’s deliveries? This bad. The polar vortex that shifted cold air over much of the northern US brought temperatures and wind chills so low that frostbite can form within five minutes or less of exposure. Just as the federal government shutdown comes to an end, everything up here is shutting down, including postal deliveries and pickups in ten different states — including right here in Minnesota.
It’s big news in Chicago, too:
Mail delivery has been suspended in parts of Minnesota, Michigan, Indiana, Illinois, Ohio, Pennsylvania, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska and Iowa.
“Due to the extreme weather conditions caused by Winter Storm Jaden, we have temporarily suspended delivery service in certain locations to ensure the safety and well-being of our employees,” the U.S. Postal Service said in a Facebook post Tuesday night.
In Chicago — where about 80,000 homeless people are facing life-threatening conditions — temperatures plunged to -22° F on Wednesday morning with a wind chills as low as -44° F. Some parts of Minnesota are expected to see temperatures as low as -40° F.
The local CBS affiliate provided this cheery weather report in the Twin Cities this morning. As I wrote this post, the outside temperature at my house had warmed up to -27 F.
Minnesotans endured Wednesday the coldest morning seen in decades, as a deep freeze settled over the state, with temperatures in the Twin Cities dipping to 30 below zero with wind chills as frigid as negative 50.
The entire state, along with most of the Upper Midwest, is under a wind chill warning, according to the National Weather Service. With wind chills dipping down to 60 below in parts of Minnesota, frostbite can set in on expose skin in just minutes.
Spoiler alert: Yes, we did finally cross the -30 threshold for air temperature. The windchill in Ely hit -70, nearly another record. Our high today, with windchill, is projected to be -36 here in the Twin Cities. The hight emperature.
My pal and hardy Minnesotan John Hinderaker wonders what happened to all the other hardy Midwesterners. I think his tongue is planted in his frost-bitten cheek, but he claims to be at work today at the offices of the Center of the American Experiment, so … maybe not. He also wonders how the climate-change alarmists plan to explain this phenomenon, especially after the Star Tribune after this gem from two weeks ago:
Sure, it’s going to be cold: the current forecast calls for a high temperature tomorrow of 17 below zero, and a low of 33 below. We are in the midst of a three-day stretch in which the temperature never gets to zero. Fahrenheit. And that is in the Minneapolis suburbs.
So it is remarkable that just 13 days ago, the Minneapolis Star Tribune assured us that cold temperatures are a thing of the past, even in northern Minnesota:
“We just don’t expect temperatures to be below 10 degrees Fahrenheit in Duluth anymore,” [Tracy] Twine said.
Heh. Great prediction. Ms Twine is an “expert” on climate who testified before the Minnesota House Energy and Climate Committee on January 15. I ripped her testimony, which as usual was based entirely on models that are known to be wrong, here. Ms. Twine assured lawmakers that declining snowfalls in northern Minnesota are due to man-made global warming. Only she forgot to check the weather records: snowfall in northern Minnesota is increasing, not decreasing.
And of course, those who said we would no longer be seeing cold weather in Duluth–150 miles north of the Twin Cities!–failed to foresee the current epic cold snap, which was just days away. Nevertheless, their models, which are programmed to produce politically-desired results, tell us with great confidence what the weather will be like in 100 years. Right. Fortunately, not many people are still buying the global warming scam.
Maybe Twine should have scheduled her testimony for June rather than January, eh? They have to be laughing in Duluth today over that prediction. They’re laughing indoors, however, because it’s -25 outside, with a wind chill of -50. The high today will get to a balmy -12, though. Perhaps Twine will take the opportunity for some strolling through Duluth’s downtown area, which she should have all to herself.
I’m at my office today, too. It’s located five steps away from my bedroom, and ten steps away from my kitchen. It’s a lovely 72 degrees Fahrenheit, a temperature from which I have no desire to deviate. Let the mail deliverers stay home — I’m sure as heck not going out to the mailbox, and don’t know why anyone else would want to go out there either. Not without a serious influx of global warming, at least.
Finally … who thought this was a good idea?

Good move for both, Fox and Gowdy

Fox News has announced that it has hired Trey Gowdy as a political and legal contributor across all of its networks.
Article from Greenville Online:
Fox News has announced that it has hired Trey Gowdy as a political and legal contributor across all of its networks.
Article from Greenville Online:
Former Republican Congressman Trey Gowdy just signed on in Greenville as a private lawyer for a high-powered firm, and now he's taking on a second job — as a contributor to the conservative Fox News Channel.
The television network announced today that the Upstate Republican would be providing "political and legal analysis across both FNC and Fox Business Network's (FBN) daytime and primetime programming."
Earlier this month — on the day his eight-year tenure as representative of the 4th Congressional District ended after he decided not to seek re-election — Gowdy announced his transition to private life as head of white-collar defense and government investigations team at the firm Nelson, Mullins, Riley & Scarborough.
In an interview with The Greenville News before the announcement of the job at the firm, Gowdy swore off involvement in politics, including as a lobbyist.
Gowdy has also said that he would not be leaving politics if he enjoyed it. It will be interesting to see the perspective he brings as a contributor.
Chuck Schumer Admits Shutdown Cost Twice as Much as Border Wall
COREY STALLINGS
COREY STALLINGS
Even though the shutdown is over, lefties are still squealing about Donald Trump having the audacity to want to secure our border. The monster. The left is hellbent on stalling the construction of the wall until someone with a “D” after their name gets into office. At which point they’ll grant voting rights amnesty to illegals. Because Statue of Liberty.
Senator Chuck Schumer gave a grandstanding speech on the floor of the Senate, wherein he said the shutdown cost 11 billion bucks. Also, it’s all Trump’s fault.
See for yourself:
This shutdown cost the U.S. economy $11 billion, including $3 billion in economic activity that can't be recovered.
Let me repeat: The #TrumpShutdown cost the U.S. economy $11 billion.
What a devastating & pointless exercise this has been.@realDonaldTrump: No more shutdowns.
Let me repeat: The #TrumpShutdown cost the U.S. economy $11 billion.
What a devastating & pointless exercise this has been.@realDonaldTrump: No more shutdowns.
Uh, all Chucky and his lefty peeps had to do was come to the table. Trump tried making them an offer and they wouldn’t even hear him out. Seems to me there’s plenty of blame to go round for the shutdown.
A wall would have only cost half as much as those obstructionist lefty douchelords’ month-long cold shoulder. They’ve still not given us a single good reason why we shouldn’t have a glorious, spiky slab of concrete lining our border.

Maybe instead of putting all the blame at the Donald’s tangerine-hued feet, those lefty legislators should, you know, do their job and legislate. So long as they keep it up with this “all or nothing” approach to negotiations with the Donald, more shutdowns are bound to happen.
There’s no decent reason why border security should be out of the question. Lefties like Chuck think they can get by with lame excuses about “compassion” and multiculturalism. We’re not falling for it. Anyone who’s keeping up knows the only people holding up progress on the issue are open borders lefties. All in the name of taco trucks and cheap landscaping.
They’re gonna have to try a lot harder than that.
Judge Orders Planned Parenthood to Answer Questions About Fetal Tissue Business
San Francisco – Four California Planned Parenthood affiliates have been ordered by a Federal Magistrate Judge to answer written questions related to hard costs associated with their fetal tissue trade.
Federal Magistrate Donna M. Ryu ordered the Planned Parenthood affiliates on January 24, 2019, to give an explanation of their denial that the amount of money they received on a per-specimen basis did not exceed their hard costs. Planned Parenthood was further ordered to produce the written response within seven days.
Federal law prohibits the sale of aborted baby body parts “for valuable consideration,” but allows for reimbursement of hard costs incurred by the abortion businesses.
Planned Parenthood affiliates involved in the trade of aborted baby tissues and organs were:
-
Planned Parenthood Mar Monte, Inc.
-
Planned Parenthood Northern California.
-
Planned Parenthood Los Angeles.
-
Planned Parenthood Pacific Southwest.
The order came as discovery is progressing in two federal court cases brought by Planned Parenthood and the National Abortion Federation against the Center for Medical Progress and its members Troy Newman, Albin Rhomberg, Sandra Merritt, and David Daleiden for releasing undercover video that purports to show that Planned Parenthood illegally profited from the sale of tissues and organs procured from the bodies of babies aborted at Planned Parenthood facilities prior to June 2015.

Defendant Troy Newman is the President of Operation Rescue. He served on the founding board of the CMP during the investigative phase and the release of the explosive undercover videos that showed Planned Parenthood executives discussing the sale of aborted baby body parts, how procedures were altered to ensure intact organs, and haggling over top dollar for each specimen, because one abortionist wanted to buy a Lamborghini.
The pro-life defendants had submitted written questions to the four Planned Parenthood affiliates with Requests for Admission (RFAs) to numerous statements as a routine part of the discovery process.
The pro-life defendants learned through earlier discovery that four Planned Parenthood affiliates who participated in the “donation” of fetal tissue had “received money for fetal tissue on a per-specimen basis.” However, the affiliates “kept no contemporaneous accounting of any costs associated with the transportation, implantation, processing, preservation, quality control, or storage of the tissue.”
In fact, it was also learned through earlier RFAs that the Planned Parenthood affiliates “never attempted to determine the actual costs of their fetal tissue transfer program until after Defendants released the first videos in July 2015.”
“If Planned Parenthood never bothered to determine their costs, how could they known if they were in compliance with Federal law.” asked Newman. “It is a question that deserves an honest answer, because any amount of money that exceeds actual hard costs would implicate them in crimes.”
CMP investigations, including interviews with former StemExpress employee Holly O’Donnell, who worked as a procurement agent at Planned Parenthood abortion clinics, revealed that it was StemExpress employees embedded in the abortion facilities that handled the procurement, preservation, and shipping of aborted baby tissues and organs, and that Planned Parenthood had few if any hard costs associated with the handling of those baby parts.
