10 Killed, 10 Wounded After Shots Fired in Texas High School
Rand Paul: Shooters Aren’t Shooting Up the Sheriff’s Office – They Go ‘Where There Is No Self-Defense’
During an interview with the Fox News Channel on Friday, Senator Rand Paul (R-KY) argued that schools can’t be defenseless and disturbed shooters “aren’t so disturbed that they’re going to shoot up the sheriff’s office. They’re showing up where there is no self-defense.”
Rand said, “I think the first thing we should do is, there needs to be an announcement by every school district that we’re going to defend our children, and that we’re not going to have a sign outside that [says], ‘We’re defenseless.’ And I think that’s the problem, is that we do have these homicidal or crazy or mentally disturbed kids, but they still aren’t so disturbed that they’re going to shoot up the sheriff’s office. They’re showing up where there is no self-defense.”
He added, “I think we get distracted. We start talking about something that Republicans and Democrats disagree with on gun control. … Look, every Hollywood actor that hates guns has armed bodyguards defending them. So, they hate guns unless the guns are defending them. Let’s announce tomorrow and let’s encourage everybody who protects our kids, superintendents, principals, school boards, announce tomorrow we’re not going to leave our kids defenseless. We are going to defend our schools from crazy people with guns.”
Rand also argued that we need to try to stop people who have psychiatric disorders that cause them to act violently and prevent people who are crazy from getting firearms. He further said there isn’t enough work being done to keep people who are mentally unstable or breaking the law from having guns.

One Slip Of Paper Convicted Obama In The Worst Scandal In American History
The Obama administration colluded with the Deep State to destroy Donald Trump.
High ranking Obama and FBI officials used allegations of collusion to cast a cloud of suspicion over Trump’s victory.
Now one slip of paper proved their guilt and could bring Obama’s Deep State crashing down.
The media heralded the 2017 assessment from four intelligence community agencies that Putin interfered in the 2016 election to assist Donald Trump.
Journalists used this to taint Trump’s win and generate the momentum behind allegations that the Trump campaign colluded with Moscow.
But not everyone was on board.
Retired National Security Agency Director Mike Rogers stated that the fake news Christopher Steele dossier was used as evidence in part to prove Putin’s motivations.
Rogers was one of the few officials who did not back up the assessment’s assertion that Putin personally ordered the cyber attacks in the 2016 election.
Real Clear Investigations reports:
“Recently retired National Security Agency Director Michael Rogers stated in a classified letter to Congress that the Clinton campaign-funded memos did factor into the ICA. And James Clapper, Director of National Intelligence under President Obama, conceded in a recent CNN interview that the assessment was based on “some of the substantive content of the dossier.” Without elaborating, he maintained that “we were able to corroborate” certain allegations…
…In a March 5, 2018, letter to House Intelligence Committee Chairman Devin Nunes, Adm. Rogers informed the committee that a two-page summary of the dossier — described as “the Christopher Steele information” — was “added” as an “appendix to the ICA draft,” and that consideration of that appendix was “part of the overall ICA review/approval process.”
His skepticism of the dossier may explain why the NSA parted company with other intelligence agencies and cast doubt on one of its crucial conclusions: that Vladimir Putin personally ordered a cyberattack on Hillary Clinton’s campaign to help Donald Trump win the White House.
Rogers has testified that while he was sure the Russians wanted to hurt Clinton, he wasn’t as confident as CIA and FBI officials that their actions were designed to help Trump, explaining that such as assessment “didn’t have the same level of sourcing and the same level of multiple sources.”
The dossier, which is made up of 16 opposition research-style memos on Trump underwritten by the Democratic National Committee and Clinton’s own campaign, is based mostly on uncorroborated third-hand sources. Still, the ICA has been viewed by much of the Washington establishment as the unimpeachable consensus of the U.S. intelligence community. Its conclusions that “Vladimir Putin ordered” the hacking and leaking of Clinton campaign emails “to help Trump’s chances of victory” have driven the “Russia collusion” narrative and subsequent investigations besieging the Trump presidency.”
This is a bombshell and it proves that John Brennan – Obama’s former CIA Director – lied before Congress when he testified that the dossier was not used in any way as part of the assessment.
And Rogers letter also proves that Obama’s cabal conspired to use fake news to advance the Russian collusion hoax and undermine the legitimacy of American democracy and elections.
The Left Has Created A Cottage Industry From the Deaths of Children
By Andrew West
For those of you who have not yet seen the news, yet another school shooting has occurred in the United States today, this time at Santa Fe High School in Texas.
The event itself is still under investigation at this hour, making details about the incident still fairly sparse.
A Texas high school student unleashed a hail of bullets inside one of his classes early Friday morning, gunning down eight to 10 people, police said.
The suspected shooter was taken into police custody and a second suspect has been detained. The suspect in custody and the suspect detained for further questioning were both students.
In addition to the 8-10 students who have already perished, a number of explosive devices have been discovered in the immediate vicinity of the school, with investigators undoubtedly considering these two incidents to be linked.
More details about the incident are sure to be made public in the coming hours and days, but we’ll take a wild guess here: White, male student, considered a loner, possibly already on the radar of local law enforcement, and almost certainly under the influence of prescription drugs in the SSRI class.
Why do I feel so confident about making this assumption? Simply because this has been the M.O. of nearly every mass shooter in American history since the advent of antidepressants, (which is pretty much every mass shooter in American history). One of the few exceptions to this rule was Stephen Paddock of Las Vegas infamy, whose timeline and history have been an oddly well-guarded secret among local law enforcement. His secret life as an arms dealer has likely forced the authorities to play his case a little close to the chest, and if we ever do learn the whole story there, I highly doubt it will be what we think.
Now, here comes the extremely ugly part: The left’s massive cottage industry that they’ve built to extract political power from tragedies such as this is about to go into overdrive.
Coming just months after a mental illness-induced rampage in Florida, this shooting in Texas is just the thing to prolong the flash-in-the-pan careers of young men such as David Hogg, who will be retiring in 40-some years with the money he makes in his “activism” in the late part of the 2010’s.
Furthermore, like the bootleg t-shirt vendors that you see 2 blocks away from a concert venue, the left will become oddly entrepreneurial while standing on the graves of these dead children…again. We will see massive marches, demonstrations, protest-travel, hotel stays, gasoline purchases, etc. The “movement” is a demographic, and organizers are certainly quoting the economic impact of these demonstrations when applying for permits. Cities around the country, including the small town of Sante Fe, Texas, will see hotel clerks working overtime to accommodate reporters, protestors, and agitators alike.
Someone in Donald Glover’s camp is secretly cheering as well, realizing that today’s tragedy will only boost the message and popularity of his controversial “This Is America” music video as well.
Comedian Bill Hicks, who was famous for railing against the almighty marketing machinations of our nation, would have called the left to the carpet for going after the “dead-kid dollar”, as he did with so many other misguided monetary opportunities. The difference between the Bill Hicks’ era and today, however, is that the mainstream media has put a faux-quarantine on this sort of truth, and I will surely be lambasted for the insinuation.
[Warning: There is a whole lot of marginal language in this clip.]
To that I say: We live in a world of love and of tragedy. The only thing we possess that balances the two is reality, and our ability to discern the truth about these issues. By browbeating those with whom you disagree, you do yourself a disservice in the knowledge department.
Do not let the left bludgeon us with their suitcases full of dead-kid dollars. If we can stop them from weaponizing the deaths of American children, they will have only the truth to fight us with…and that is a fight that they cannot win.
Until that battle comes, we pray for Texas.
Ben Bender, 93, caps 66-year golf career with hole-in-one

93-year-old puts clubs away after making a hole-in-one
"(Ben) shot 8 on 1 and 7 on 2 so you guessed it, a hole-in-one on 3," he said. "What an amazing feat by Ben (in his final round)."
Golf has been a part of Ben's life since he was 28. He said his first round was with some co-workers who played Jaycees and asked him to join. He bought Wilson clubs and a bag for $50 from the manager of a shoeshine shop and took to the course.
He was a student of the game. Bender, who was a moldmaker for Hazel Atlas and sold insurance for MetLife, played six days per week when he lived in Florida and became a 3-handicap golfer.
When he retired, Bender moved back to Zanesville and regularly played Green Valley.
"The second hole I ever played, I hit my drive towards a fence," Bender recalled. "When I got there, I was ready to put my ball on a tee when another guy said you can't do that. You can only tee it up when you drive it. I hit that ball and hopped out of the grass like a rabbit.
"That's how I learned to play the game," he added. "We talked to each other and worked together. I enjoyed the game until the end."
Golf gave him plenty, and it was fitting to cap his career with the rarest feat.
"I was lucky to play golf this long, but I never expected (a hole-in-one)," he said. "It was the last time I was able to play, and I think God had a hand in this. I loved the game and hate to give it up, but I can't play forever."
Stormy Daniels’ lawyer is under investigation by the California Bar Association
JStone / Shutterstock.com
Stormy Daniels’ attorney Michael Avenatti is finally getting a taste of his own medicine.
Fox News has reported Avenatti has recently had a complaint filed against him for unpaid taxes.
True Slimeball
Avenatti is the type of attorney everyone thinks of when we hear those bad lawyer jokes.
You know the ones… What do you call 100 attorneys at the bottom of a river? A good start!
Avenatti was a no-name attorney until he latched his shingle to the Daniels case.
Now he is using every underhanded technique out there to drag Trump’s name through the mud to defend his money-hungry porn star client.
However, the tide has changed, and it is now Avenatti on the defensive.
The Failed Coffee Shop
The complaint in question was filed by a Washington attorney, David Nold.
According to the complaint, Avenatti was part of a group, Global Baristas, that owed federal taxes of approximately $5 million.
The suit contends the company withheld tax payments from employees checks but never actually paid those taxes to the government.
Avenatti actually had the audacity to call Nold an “unethical hack of a lawyer.”
He also said the suit is “completely baseless” and he owes nothing.
Michael Avenatti is contending the group that “technically” owes the taxes is Global Baristas US LLC, which is owned by Global Baristas LLC.
He stated, “At no point in time was I ever responsible for any taxes for Global Baristas US LLC, nor was I ever a member of that entity, nor did I own any direct interest in that entity.”
Now color me ignorant, but if your entity owns the entity, doesn’t that ultimately make you an owner and financially responsible?
While Avenatti cried foul, the Seattle Times produced a document with Mr. Avenatti admitting he was the “principal” of Global Baristas US LLC.
Doctors Rip Claim Abortions Needed for ‘Mental Health’
Irish psychiatrists are condemning the claim that the repeal of Ireland’s Eighth Amendment prohibiting most abortions is necessary for women’s mental health.
24 Psychiatrists published a letter today stating don't use mental health grounds to legalise abortion or to justify changing Ireland's #abortion laws. #Savethe8th #VoteNotoAbortion #8thref https://ift.tt/2rUM8ff …
“To use ‘health’ as a justification for abortion, when the vast majority of abortions do not take place on any kind of health ground, inverts the true purpose of medicine and doctors who value their calling should have nothing to do with this,” write 24 Irish psychiatrists in a letter regarding the upcoming referendum on the amendment. “Our Minister for Health, for his part, must defend the true purpose of medicine.”
The doctors get immediately to the core of the way in which the Left uses media to advance its narrative in the area of abortion.
“Those pressing for repeal of the 8th amendment are presenting their case in the language of ‘healthcare,’” they write. “We believe that to present the case for repeal in such terms is fundamentally misleading because under the law as proposed by the Government, the vast majority of abortions would involve healthy babies and healthy women. This is not ‘healthcare’ but something else entirely.”
The doctors add:
The Government does not pretend that abortions in the first three months of pregnancy will need a health ground in order for them to take place. This makes it even more misleading for Government spokespeople or pro-choice advocates to continually present abortion as a form of ‘treatment’. It is worth pointing out that about 90 percent of abortions take place during the first three months of pregnancy.
The psychiatrists observe that, after 12 weeks, the proposed law “will conform closely to the law in the UK, where a health ground must be offered as a justification for abortion, before and after 12 weeks. The ‘health ground’ can be physical or mental.”
“As consultant psychiatrists, it is the so-called ‘mental health’ ground that particularly concerns us because we know from official UK statistics that 97pc of the almost 200,000 abortions which occur annually in the UK, take place under the ‘mental health’ ground,” they say.
The doctors point out the Joint Committee on the Eighth Amendment of the Constitution itself acknowledges in its recent report, “What became clear during evidence is that the majority of terminations are for socio-economic reasons.”
“This is yet another reason why it is so dishonest to justify the proposed and radical change to the current law as ‘healthcare,’” the psychiatrists assert, adding their deep concern that “the ‘mental health’ of the mother ground will be used to justify aborting babies with disabilities, including those with Down Syndrome.”
The Irish Cabinet formally approved a referendum on whether the 8th amendment should be repealed to take place on May 25th. The amendment provides for equal protection for mothers and their unborn babies. A repeal of the amendment would allow for unrestricted abortions up to 12 weeks’ gestation.
Steven Aden, Chief Legal Officer & General Counsel at Americans United for Life, tells Breitbart News the Irish psychiatrists are “exactly right.”
“The American experience has been that allowing abortions for ‘mental health’ reasons opens the door to rubber-stamp abortions for any reason or no reason – abortion on demand,” he explains. “When the U.S. Supreme Court imposed abortion on all 50 states in 1973, it defined the ‘health’ exception for abortions at any time in pregnancy to include ‘all factors – physical, emotional, psychological, familial, and the woman’s age – relevant to the wellbeing of the patient. All these factors may relate to health.’”
Aden notes in the United States, “One abortionist in the Midwest notoriously approved a late-term abortion for a young woman who was ‘stressed out’ because her pregnancy kept her from attending a rock concert.”
Dr. Eamon McGuinness, former chairman of Ireland’s Institute of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists, recently exposed the “sustained campaign” that uses disinformation to suggest that Ireland’s constitutional protection of unborn children puts “women’s lives at risk,” Breitbart News reported.
“The Eighth Amendment has one medical effect only: it prevents Irish doctors from deliberately, as an elective matter, causing the death of an unborn child,” McGuinness wrote. “It awards to the child in the womb the right to have their life protected in Irish hospitals, in Irish GP surgeries, and in Irish operating theatres.”
However, Ireland’s Medical Council guidelines, already require doctors to act to save a mother’s life if her pregnancy poses a true threat to her life.
School Shooter Found Carrying Symbol Linked to Radical Trump Haters
Details about the alleged perpetrator of Friday’s school shooting are beginning to emerge, and they seem to dismantle leftist narratives about gun violence.
At least nine people were killed during an attack at Santa Fe High School in Texas. Authorities have confirmed that part of the criminal’s plot involved makeshift bombs most likely constructed from pressure cookers, and at least one armed police officer engaged the shooter at the school.
That suspected criminal has now been taken into custody and revealed as a 17-year-old student. As journalists poured over the alleged shooter’s social media accounts, they found something chilling.
It appears that the shooter proudly wore a piece of pro-Communist propaganda on his clothing as he carried out the attack.
Photos and descriptions from the accused criminal’s Facebook page show an unmistakable Soviet “hammer and sickle” pin placed prominently on the lapel of his jacket — the same jacket that witnesses said he wore during the rampage.
The “hammer and sickle” is the exact same symbol used by many far-left anti-Trump activists, including “Antifa.”
Metro UK newspaper published screenshots of the suspect’s account and showed a red Socialist star with the hammer and sickle. The student’s own description confirmed what the pin meant. “Duster Hammer and Sickle = Rebellion,” he wrote.
The star pin appeared to be identical or similar to items available from MarxistBooks.com and other pro-socialist propaganda outlets.
More recently, the symbol has become the de facto icon of radical anti-Trump protesters. There are numerous examples of liberal protesters waving the hammer and sickle flag or using the iconography on banners protesting the president and conservatism.
Unsurprisingly, Antifa waving USSR flag at Boston free speech rally.
It appears that wearing the trench coat with its pro-socialist propaganda was common for the alleged shooter.
“Dustin Severin, a 17-year-old student, told local NBC affiliate KPRC that he saw (the shooter) in the hallway shortly before the bullets started flying — and that he was wearing his usual outfit,” reported NBC.
“He wears a trench coat every day, and it’s like 90 degrees out here,” the witness said.
The jacket also had other pins, including a rising sun that symbolizes “kamikaze tactics,” and Baphomet, an idol of the Occult that is associated with evil.
More details about the shooter and this horrible crime will emerge over the coming days. What is already clear, however, is that this was a disturbed person bent on carrying out harm … and the liberal media’s narratives about conservatives being to blame for these crimes just does not hold water.

Minutes After Deadly Texas School Shooting, CNN Gets BUSTED Spreading Fake News
In the immediate aftermath of the deadly shooting at the Santa Fe High School in Texas, CNN immediately got busted spreading fake news.
On Friday, at least eight people were killed and many more were injured. Two suspects are in custody and police reportedly believe there could be others at large.
As noted by The Daily Wire’s Ben Shapiro, CNN and several of top network personalities claimed the tragedy marked the 22 second school shooting of the year, which is simply not true.
Including today’s shooting incident at a Texas high school, this year there have already been 22 school shootings where someone was hurt or killed. That averages out to more than 1 shooting a week. https://cnn.it/2Ir9JOR
CNN Chief National Security Correspondent Jim Sciutto and political correspondent Sara Murray also tweeted that the deadly shooting in Texas on Friday brought the total number of U.S. school shootings to 22 this year.
Jim Sciutto✔@jimsciutto
This brings the number of U.S. school shootings this year to 22. https://twitter.com/jimsciutto/status/997490907451715586 …
CNN’s list of confirmed school shootings for 2018 now stands at 22. Twenty-two. Already. This year.
-
A shooting that involved at least one person being shot (not including the shooter)
-
A shooting that occurred on school grounds
-
We included grades K through college/university level
-
We included gang violence, fights and domestic violence
-
We included accidental discharge of a firearm as long as the first two parameters are met
So, in other words, they lumped together domestic disputes, accidental firearm discharges, and events that have nothing to do with an actual shooter at a school. Using CNN’s logic, a gang member shooting another gang member on school property would be classified as a school shooting, which has no similarities to the one that occurred in Texas or in Parkland, Florida earlier this year.
CNN continues to lie/mislead their readers. This “22” school shootings number literally includes things like a BB gun hitting a school bus and gang-violence. This is CNN.
Santa Fe High School is in an area that is pro-gun and pro gun rights. Somehow CNN will only find the students who want gun control.
As detailed in Shapiro’s piece, CNN is using lumping together arbitrary categories to push their gun-control agenda and inflate the figures.
A murder that occurs in a parking lot or involving non-students cannot and should not be included in the same figure as an actual school shooting.
A murder that occurs in a parking lot or involving non-students cannot and should not be included in the same figure as an actual school shooting.
That doesn’t mean those incidents aren’t worth reporting or addressing, because they are equally as important.
It means that CNN is padding the stats to claim there has been far more school shootings this year.
Shapiro notes that if we remove CNN’s parameters and filters, there have probably been around seven school shootings this year. Which, again, is a big deal.
CNN’s blatant misreporting again shows they have an agenda, and they won’t let facts get in the way of their anti-gun narrative
Schweizer: Media and GOP Refuse to Investigate McConnell and Chao
Breitbart News Senior Editor-at-Large Peter Schweizer, author of Secret Empires: How the American Political Class Hides Corruption and Enriches Family and Friends, joined SiriusXM hosts Rebecca Mansour and Joel Pollak on Wednesday’s Breitbart News Tonight to discuss the nomination of Gordon Hartogensis, brother-in-law to Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, to lead the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation.
“The McConnell-Chao family, they have a large extended family. In fact, Elaine Chao has five sisters. Those sisters are, like Elaine, very smart and very well-educated. Grace Chao, her younger sister, her husband has been nominated to serve as the head of the pension guarantees fund corporation that the federal government runs,” Schweizer explained.
“This is basically a government entity that is supposed to serve as a quasi-insurance for a corporate pension,” he continued. “If you have a corporation that has a pension fund set up for employees, and they have a bad couple of years, and they have to declare bankruptcy, the pension is protected by the federal government. That’s the theory behind it.”
“Grace Chao’s husband has been nominated for this position,” he said. “The nomination came out. There was very little on his background. It was not made clear the fact that he is related to Mitch McConnell and Elaine Chao.”
“What’s also interesting is there’s very little background on him. They simply list him as an entrepreneur. The problem is that he really doesn’t seem to have any background whatsoever in the pension business, in the finance business. He’s done a little bit of work in the tech space, and he has managed some family trusts. That’s all that is known about him,” said Schweizer.
“It raises all kinds of questions about nepotism, about qualifications,” he said. “We, of course, have discussed the financial entanglements of the Chao family on this program before and in my book. I think it adds a further layer of intrigue to precisely what this family is up to in Washington, DC.”
Mansour noted that the White House statement announcing Hartogensis’ nomination referred to him vaguely as an “investor and technology sector leader with experience managing financial equities, bonds, private placements, and software development.” Some media accounts of the nomination have expressed skepticism of his meager credentials for such an important position.
Schweizer noted that the software company Hartogensis presided over, Auric LLC, is “closely held,” and there is “very little known about it.”
“It’s certainly possible that he has all this experience, but they never really spell it out,” he said. “I mean, what deals are they referring to? Honestly, by that definition, ‘has a background in the financial sector’ – you know, I’ve bought some bonds in the past, Rebecca. Does that mean I have experience in the bond market?”
Schweizer speculated that the White House was trying to “sneak this nomination in,” but the effort was spoiled when the connection to McConnell’s family was drawn.
“I think we ought to be fair-minded in the sense that, let this person have his hearing, but the fact that they tried to slide it in – in addition to the fact that the Chao family has, as we talked about before, these very extensive financial ties to the Chinese government – it raises questions about, particularly, what are the ties there? What experience does he have? Is he going to be beholden to Mitch McConnell or Elaine Chao or to the family in some way? Those are all fair and legitimate questions that ought to be asked of any nominee for these sorts of positions, but I think, particularly, for somebody that they apparently seem to be trying to hide what, precisely, those family ties are,” he said.
“It was not apparent at all from the announcement,” he pointed out. “They did not, certainly, mention his wife. This is all now coming tumbling out. I think it’s a good thing. I think it’s always good for people to have as much information as possible as to who these nominees are.”
Schweizer restated that there is a “massive conflict of interest” between the McConnell-Chao family and America’s strategic and economic adversary China, with which the Chaos have extensive business dealings through their shipping company, the Foremost Group.
“The Chinese government has made the McConnell-Chao family lots of money over the years,” he said. “As we’ve also recounted, just last year in 2017, they contracted with the China State Shipbuilding Corporation – this is the Chao family – to have the Chinese State Shipbuilding Corporation build ten large super-ships for them, cargo ships. We don’t know how much they paid for these ships. We know in the past the Chinese government has financed the construction of these ships. We know that they give the Foremost Group lots of contracts to ship goods around Asia.”
“That’s a problem. Not only is it a problem for Mitch McConnell, who is, of course, in the Senate responsible for shepherding legislation that’s related to a whole host of issues that matter to China; it’s also a concern for the transportation secretary,” Schweizer contended.
“We think of the transportation secretary as somebody who, okay, they’re involved in the highway system, or maybe they’re involved in airports. No, the transportation secretary has international responsibilities, including international shipping,” he pointed out.
“There are a lot of things the transportation secretary could do for, or against, a foreign government like China because of their ability to control flow on ports,” he continued. “There are international initiatives China is undertaking. They have one called One Belt, One Road, where they’re seeking to build Chinese infrastructure through Africa and Asia. Many U.S. observers in both the Trump administration and the Obama administration see this as a strategic challenge to the United States. Well, the U.S. Transportation Department can actually do things to help or to hinder Chinese development of One Belt, One Road.”
“To have Mitch McConnell and Elaine Chao in positions of responsibility where they can help the Chinese, to be so dependent financially on the Chinese for the family’s financial fortunes, raises all kinds of troubling questions. Nobody in Washington seems to want to talk about this,” he said.
Schweizer wondered why McConnell and Chao are not asked about these conflicts of interest during their media appearances.
“Don’t accuse them of anything, just ask them a question,” he advised. “Do you have these ties? Do they present a conflict of interest? Is it true that your family business could be destroyed by the Chinese government tomorrow? How much money have you made with the help of the Chinese government? These are all fair, honest questions that they ought to be asked, and yet nobody in the media seems to be prepared to ask these very basic questions of two very powerful people in Washington, DC.”
Mansour noted that China is increasingly aggressive about using its economic power to influence politics and corporate behavior beyond its borders, citing a recent incident in which the Gap clothing store was forced to apologize for creating a T-shirt that showed China but did not include Taiwan and the South China Sea as part of its territory.
“These are overt expressions of raw Chinese power, to go after the Gap, to go after Marriott and these other companies for not including a little speck, the island nation of Taiwan, on a T-shirt as part of China,” Schweizer agreed. “If they’re prepared to do that publicly, imagine the pressure that they are prepared to exert on people like Mitch McConnell and Elaine Chao and their family in private.”
“You have a lot of people in Washington; it’s not just the McConnells. I talk about it in Secret Empires. The Biden family as well, but also a lot of entertainment companies and media companies that are prepared to look the other way to Chinese actions, to Chinese aggression, to Chinese behavior to make a buck because China has the ability to make people wealthy with sweetheart deals,” he said.
“The head of the Canadian Intelligence Service a couple of years ago issued a statement that Canadian members of Parliament and their family members were being offered sweetheart deals by the Chinese,” he recalled. “Everybody’s aware that this is going on. Nobody wants to talk about it. The big media companies don’t want to talk about it. Certainly, the entertainment industry wants to shy away from these issues.”
“I think in Washington, DC, you have a combination of some people that are intimidated by Mitch McConnell because of his power. They’re in the Senate, they’re trying to get legislation passed for their state, for their constituents, so they don’t want to upset the applecart. But, frankly you’ve also got some people that are either doing deals with the Chinese themselves – you’re not going to see Joe Biden criticize them on these issues because his son, Joe Biden’s son, got a sweetheart deal from the Chinese government. You’ve got others that are probably doing the same or perhaps hoping down the road to have the same,” he said.
Schweizer said that “the unspoken issue in Washington, DC, that nobody wants to talk about” is the “foreign money sloshing around in Washington.”
“I know there have been a lot of stories about Russian money. I’m saying Russian money is an issue that obviously ought to be looked at, but the Russians have a small fraction of the amount of money to toss around as the Chinese do. The Chinese have been extremely successful in essentially buying off portions of the American political class with these lucrative deals,” he warned.
Mansour suggested that if the Republicans will not police themselves for conflicts of interests, Democrats and outsider candidates should do it for them.
“Mitch McConnell is so loathed by voters that even a crazy candidate who just starts to attack Mitch McConnell will rise in the polls,” she said. “That’s how much he is loathed by — I’m talking voters on both sides of the aisle. He is absolutely radioactive. He is toxic.”
“If the GOP will not police their side, will not deal with this swamp captain who is so compromised, then I have to say, I encourage the Democrats to. That’s how disgusted I am with this. That’s how serious I take this issue,” she said.
“This is why Breitbart is so important,” Mansour continued. “We actually police our side. The Democrats typically don’t police their side at all. We do. We police our side. I’ve got to say, you know what? If the Republicans will not stand up to this swamp lord and his family, then I encourage the Democrats to. Dear Kamala Harris: make an issue of this. Dear Bernie Sanders: make an issue of this. Dear Elizabeth Warren: make an issue of this. This guy is ripe for the picking. Go for it. Make it a campaign issue.”
Schweizer said leaders who tackle corruption head-on “not only accomplish important things; they do well politically because they know that this stuff is going on, they’re angered that it’s going on, and they’re waiting for somebody to rise up and say it.”
Pollak asked if the eve of a crucial midterm election is really the best time to “aim rhetorical fire at the Republican leader in the Senate” because “you’re telling voters that if they vote Republican, they’re getting Mitch McConnell, who now you’ve made toxic, and you’re saying, ‘Well, you may as well vote Democratic then.’”
“My view is, I don’t know that Mitch McConnell gains you any votes,” Schweizer responded. “I don’t think he helps in any of these marginal races. The question becomes, will a voter – let’s say you’ve got a Senate race in Nevada – will a voter be turned off if Republicans, maybe the Republican candidate in Nevada, is calling out Mitch McConnell on these issues? I’m not sure that it’s going to hurt that candidate. I would posit that it could potentially help them.”
“These issues need to be addressed at some point, and it never seems to be a convenient time for a lot of these people. My point would be to those who say we need to wait until after November, I would just say, ‘Okay, then I expect to hear you talking about this in December.’ I’m just doubtful that we will because I think there is this culture that I talked about of perpetuating this corruption, either out of fear or because there’s a desire for them to benefit from it,” he said.
“There are decisions that people have to make strategically,” Schweizer conceded. “I just think that oftentimes it’s never a good time to talk about these corruption issues. But I think you’re right, Rebecca: eventually, they do catch up with you, and it becomes so endemic in the system.”
