Umm-Umm good...Campbell Soup Closing Toronto Factory, Shifting Production to U.S.

by KATHERINE RODRIGUEZ

Campbell Soup Company announced that it would close its Toronto, Canada, plant and shift production to three U.S. factories.

The company revealed Wednesday that the Toronto facility, which first opened in 1931, would be closed in several phases over 18 months before moving production to facilities in Maxton, North Carolina; Paris, Texas; and Napolean, Ohio.

The move will result in the loss of 380 Canadian jobs, but it is unclear how many new jobswill be created in the U.S. A company spokesman told Bloomberg that existing employees would most likely handle the increased soup volume.
Mark Alexander, the president of Campbell’s parent company, Americas Simple Meals and Beverages, said the decision to close was “a difficult one” but ultimately “the best course of action” for the company.
“We are operating in an increasingly challenging environment as our industry’s consumer and retail landscapes continue to change dramatically,” he said in a statement.
Ana Dominguez, president of Campbell’s Canadian operations, said the company decided to close its Toronto plant in part because of overproduction—meaning there is an increase in the supply of soup but not enough demand from consumers.
“Simply put, we are in a situation where we can produce a lot more soup than we can sell,” she told the Toronto Star in an interview.
Dominguez added that the Toronto facility is the oldest and smallest of Campbell’s production facilities in Canada.

Irish Bishop: Let’s Be Honest, in Abortion, the Baby Has ‘No Choice’

by THOMAS D. WILLIAMS, PH.D.

Screen shot

Despite the “choice” rhetoric of abortion advocates, the unborn child has no voice and no choice and is at the mercy of what adults choose to do to him or her, said Irish bishop Kevin Doran in a pastoral letter released this week.

“When it comes to the right to choose, there is a tendency to forget that there is another person involved; a vulnerable person who has no choice and who depends entirely on others for protection,” wrote Doran, the bishop of the Elphin diocese. “If society accepts that one human being has the right to end the life of another, then it is no longer possible to claim the right to life as a fundamental human right for anybody.”
The bishop’s strong words came as debate over abortion is heating up in Ireland in the lead-up to an important referendum over the eighth amendment of the Irish Constitution that guarantees the rights of the unborn child, while also recognizing its humanity.
“We are facing an enormous and dramatic clash between good and evil, death and life, the ‘culture of death’ and the ‘culture of life,’” the bishop said, noting that “we are all involved and we all share in it, with the inescapable responsibility of choosing to be unconditionally pro-life.”
There is a “growing awareness” in Irish society of our shared responsibility to cherish the gift of life, he said, which makes it “difficult to understand why anyone would suggest that abortion should be legalised.”
In his letter, Bishop Doran takes on the slogans of Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers, stripping away the veil of reasonableness from their demagoguery.
“Abortion has nothing to do with healthcare,” he wrote. “There is nothing in the job-description of your family doctor that would suggest, even for a moment, that he or she should be involved in taking human life.”
From a Christian perspective, the bishop notes that the earliest pages of Scripture offer “a deep awareness of God as the one who calls us into life and into relationship with him, ‘who forms us in our mother’s womb’ (Ps. 139) and who chooses us ‘to live through love in his presence’ (Eph. 1), which is why the Christian Church has condemned abortion since the very beginning.
Citing Pope Benedict XVI, Doran said: “We are not some casual and meaningless product of evolution. Each of us is the result of a thought of God. Each of us is willed, each of us is loved, each of us is necessary.”
Modern embryology makes it clear that “there is no conflict between faith and reason,” the bishop wrote. “The new human being which will be born as your baby after nine months, begins at fertilisation. The genetic identity of the new child is already there from the very beginning. Everything else is simply natural development.”
“Most people I meet seem to be quite clear that the unborn child is indeed a human baby,” he said. In our desire to be compassionate toward women who find themselves in difficult situations there must be a better solution than ending the life of the child, he suggests.
The prelate also notes how easily the acceptance of abortion leads to a diminishment in the appreciation for human life more generally.
“A number of EU member states have already legalized euthanasia,” he said. “I am convinced that if we concede any ground on abortion, the very same arguments which are now being used to justify abortion will be used to justify ending the lives of frail elderly people and people with significant disability. This is the final frontier. If we cross it, there will be no easy way back.”
The bishop also challenges the faithful to be responsible in their vote in the referendum, reminding them of the gravity of abortion, even in the name of “compassion.”
“Some well-meaning people may consider voting to remove the 8th amendment for the sake of compassion, but if the intention of that vote is that human babies would be aborted, I would ask: ‘how can that not be gravely sinful, since it is so clearly in conflict with the truth?’”
“Politics is not just for politicians,” he said. “Politics is the art of good government and, in a democracy, we all have our part to play in government. So talk to your politicians, or write to them, and make clear to them that you want them to defend the right to life of the unborn.”

Pirro: ‘Citizenship Is a Privilege’ — ‘We Don’t Grant It to People Because They Think They Deserve It’

During her Saturday opening statement for Fox News Channel’s “Justice,” Jeanine Pirro responded to people who have denounced President Donald Trump’s offer of amnesty to 1.8 million illegal immigrants in exchange for a border wall at the United States-Mexican border.
“Instead of being thankful, they’re being indignant,” Pirro said.
She added, “Citizenship is a privilege. We don’t grant it to people because they think they deserve it. What have you done for the United States? … I believe in the American dream. I don’t want anyone to take advantage of it, and I don’t want anyone to ruin it, especially people who are not grateful to be here, who seemingly hate us and call us racists. There needs to be an allegiance to the United States and what this country stands for.”

Kelli Ward: Ronald Reagan’s Biggest Regret Was Granting Amnesty and Trusting Congress on Border Security

by ROBERT KRAYCHIK

“President Reagan’s biggest regret as president was granting amnesty and then trusting Congress to deliver on border security,” said 2018 Republican Senate candidate Kelli Ward, expressing opposition to the White House’s recently released amnesty proposal.

Ward’s comments came in an interview with Breitbart News’ Washington Political Editor Matt Boyle on SiriusXM’s Breitbart News Saturday.
“We have to learn from our history,” advised Ward. “In 1986, Ronald Reagan–great president, amazing conservative, lover of liberty and of America–granted amnesty; and Ed Rollins, who is helping me with my campaign, told me that President Reagan’s biggest regret as president was granting amnesty and then trusting Congress to deliver on border security. It didn’t happen then, and it’s not going to happen now if we do this in the wrong order.”
Amnesty advocates seek to mislead Americans with the euphemisms “permanent solution” and “comprehensive immigration reform” as rhetorical rebrandings of amnesty, said Ward.
“A ‘permanent solution’ is amnesty,” said Ward. “Just the same way that ‘comprehensive immigration reform’ is code for amnesty, so is ‘permanent solution.’”
Ward noted her primary Republican opponent, Martha McSally, holding a “D” rating with NumbersUSA, an immigration-focused organization pursuing an end to chain migration, the visa lottery, and the issuance of employment-based visas for foreign workers of “non-extraordinary” skills already available within the American labor force.
“Look at her NumbersUSA score. She is down at 27 or 28 percent. You don’t get a score of 27 or 28 out of 100 on immigration if you are for border security, building the wall, stopping illegal immigration, limiting chain migration if that’s truly who you are. … She’s in the D- to F-rated senator class at every conservative rating across the board. I don’t want another D- or F-rated senator like John McCain or Jeff Flake, and neither do the people of Arizona.”
Martha McSally is “Jeff Flake 2.0” and an “establishment politician,” said Ward. “Her voting record is clear, she’s voted nine times for amnesty.” “She’s been in the mold of the GOP establishment, you know, Mitch McConnell is behind this effort to get another Jeff Flake … into the United States Senate. We in Arizona have to stop it.”
Ward advised President Donald Trump to maintain his previously stated commitments to reject amnesty proposals.
“This is the issue that largely got President Trump elected, this immigration and border security issue,” said Ward. “I know if he stands firm on the promises that he made to build the wall, secure the border, and not offer amnesty, and remember those Angel Moms and Dads … who lost their children at the hands of illegal immigrants–he promised them no amnesty–I know that if he stands firm on those principles, we will achieve the immigration reform and border security that are necessary without planting the seeds of future immigration problems down the road.”
Ward aligned herself with President Donald Trump’s “Make America Great Again” vision, saying she has been “fighting for the America First agenda before it was ever called that.”

Heritage Report Ranking Trump Above Reagan Again Exposes #NeverTrump Grifters
by JOHN NOLTE

For a year now, all you have heard from our provincial #NeverTrump tribalists is how those of us who backed Trump were duped into supporting a secret Democrat, a lefty, a guy who could not wait to sell us out. Well, once again, these narcissistic #NeverTrump grifters have been exposed by reality, this time in the form of a Heritage Foundation report that ranks President Donald Trump above Ronald Reagan.

According to the Heritage Foundation, a widely-respected conservative think tank, during his first year in office, Trump adopted nearly two-thirds (64 percent) of Heritage’s agenda. By comparison, Heritage says that former President Reagan enacted only 49 percent of its policy prescriptions.
“There is so much noise in this town that I think it obscures the real work that’s being done,” Heritage president Kay Coles James told the New York Times. “This administration is doing quite well in terms of advancing a conservative agenda — clearly, quite well.”
In 2016, Heritage came up with 334 conservative policies, a wish-list of sorts, for a new Republican administration. Trump has enacted 64 percent of those items. In 1981, his first year in office, Reagan scratched off only 49 percent of the items on that year’s Heritage list.
Some of those on the right who opposed Trump have been gracious enough to admit they were wrong. The Federalist’s Mollie Hemingway took a look back at Trump’s first year and wrote last week:
Ironically, the very lack of conservative bona fides that worried me two years ago means he’s less beholden to a conservative establishment that had grown alienated from the people it is supposed to serve and from the principles it ostensibly exists to promote. His surprising conservatism might also be the result of the absolutism and extremism of his critics, whether among the media, traditional Democratic activists or the anti-Trump right. If Trump were ever inclined to indulge his liberal tendencies after winning the election, the stridency and spite of his opponents have provided him with no incentives to do so.
On his radio show Thursday, Dennis Prager, who was not a #NeverTrumper but supported Trump as a dead-last choice in the 16 person GOP primary, was just as gracious and insightful:
I was wrong. My opposition to Donald Trump was wrong, in retrospect. I was wrong. I had friends who supported him, and I didn’t understand them. I said, “Are you not aware of what he said about John McCain? Isn’t that enough to disqualify the guy?” They perceived in him what I did not perceive in him, that these over-the-top statements – as objectionable as the statements themselves may be, and none of them defended the statements – nevertheless, what they perceived was accurate: a man who doesn’t give a damn about what the press says about him. That is the only way to govern. It is the only way to advance the principles of conservatism in the United States is to not give a damn. … He is so much better a president than Mitt Romney would’ve made. Mitt Romney would’ve awakened every day to read The New York Times editorial page to see how he’s covered. Mitt Romney gave us Romneycare in Massachusetts.
Meanwhile, the #NeverTrump tribe, those bitter dead-enders like National Review’s Jonah Goldberg and Twitter’s Bill Kristol, have dragged their wounded egos under a bridge and turned into ridiculous trolls, Vichy Republicans still sleeping with the enemy; still the same pious and sanctimonious scolds hungry to believe whatever the discredited MSM tells them; still the goofy cowards eager to surrender because the tension of battle gives them a rash.

Saudi-based Muslim body rejects Holocaust denial

Leader of Muslim World League says history is impartial, Holocaust denial is a crime.

A Saudi-based Muslim group rejected Holocaust denial in a letter to the US Holocaust Memorial Museum.

“History is indeed impartial no matter how hard forgers tried to tamper with or manipulate it,” said the letter sent Jan. 22 to the museum by Mohammad Al Issa, the secretary general of the Muslim World League, five days before International Holocaust Remembrance Day. “Hence, we consider any denial of the Holocaust or minimizing of its effect a crime to distort history and an insult to the dignity of those innocent souls who have perished. It is also an affront to us all since we share the same human soul and spiritual bonds.”

The letter was posted Thursday on the site of the Washington Institute for Near East Policy. Al Issa suggested the letter was prompted in part by his friendship with the think tank’s director, Robert Satloff, who has written extensively about North African Muslims who protected Jews during the Holocaust.

Writing separately, Satloff described meeting Al Issa last month when he led a delegation of lay leaders of his think tank to Saudi Arabia. A former justice minister, Al Issa had taken over the Saudi-funded Muslim World League in 2016. Satloff wrote that the league had been a linchpin in propagating “a radical, hate-filled, anti-West, anti-Semitic version of Islam.” Al Issa expressed a willingness to visit the Holocaust museum the next time he was in Washington.

The appointment of Al Issa appears to be of a piece with Saudi Arabia’s pivot westward under its new crown prince, Muhammad bin Sultan, Satloff said.

“Taking his lead from Mohammad bin Salman, the current crown prince who has vowed to cleanse his country of extremism and return it to ‘moderate Islam,’ Al Issa seems to have a specific mandate to transform the MWL from an organization synonymous with extremism to one that preaches tolerance,” he said.

Al Issa did not specify Jews as victims of the Holocaust in his letter to the museum director, Sara Bloomfield, but instead spoke of “this human tragedy perpetrated by evil Nazism” and “our great sympathy with the victims of the Holocaust, an incident that shook humanity to the core, and created an event whose horrors could not be denied or underrated by any fair-minded or peace-loving person.”

The Muslim World League, which was founded in 1962, is funded principally by Saudi Arabia’s government. President Donald Trump, visiting Saudi Arabia in June, encouraged it and other Sunni Arab countries to combat radical Islam.

Holocaust denial has proliferated for decades in the Arab and Muslim worlds, sometimes encouraged by official government bodies, including in the past by Saudi Arabia. President Barack Obama in his 2009 speech to the Muslim world delivered in Cairo said the perpetuation of Holocaust denial was an obstruction to better relations with the West.

Dershowitz: I Wouldn’t Have Campaigned for Obama If I Knew About Farrakhan Photo

by JEFF POOR
Saturday 0n Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Harvard law professor Alan Dershowitz reacted to a photograph of President Barack Obama posing with Nation of Islam leader Louis Farrakhan.
At the time, Obama was a state senator, and according to Dershowitz, had he known Obama had posed with Farrakhan, he wouldn’t have supported him in his initial 2008 bid for the White House.
“Louis Farrakhan is a virulent anti-Semite,” he said. “He’s called Judaism a ‘gutter religion.’ He’s anti-American.”
“He is a horrible, horrible human being,” he continued. “And if I had known that the president had posed, smilingly, with him when he was a senator, I would not have campaigned for Barack Obama. It would have influenced my decision. Look, I threatened to leave the party if Keith Ellison were elected as chairman because of his association with Farrakhan. You don’t associate with a bigot. You don’t associate with an anti-Semite. There should be zero tolerance for that kind of bigotry — and if Barack Obama associated with him, if the Black Caucus invited him, I don’t blame them for trying to suppress the truth because that’s a really horrible truth.”

Gowdy to Chris Wallace: Do You Want To Know The Truth About Whether Steele Dossier Was Used To Get FISA Warrant?

During an interview on Fox News Sunday, Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) discussed a classified memo prepared by the Republicans on the House Oversight Committee. Gowdy is pushing for the memo to be released so the public can see what role the Steele Dossier played in the FBI's investigation into the Trump campaign. Democrats on the committee oppose releasing the memo.

Wallace asked about the memo: "The House Intelligence Committee is expected to vote this week on whether to release this four-page memo that you had a big hand in writing, that alleges abuse and bias inside the FBI and Justice Dept. As I discussed with Marc Short, the Washington Post is reporting this morning that the president wants to have the memo released. Do you agree with that?"

"I do, I'm sorry we're at this point," Gowdy replied. "This memo is nothing but a distilling, reducing of thousands of pages of documents provided to us by the [DOJ and FBI]. So there is nothing in this memo that the Bureau is not already aware of."

"If you think your viewers want to know whether or not the dossier was used in court proceedings, whether or not it was vetted before it was used, whether or not it's ever been vetted. If you are interested in who paid for the dossier, if you are interested in Christopher Steele's relationship with Hillary Clinton and the Democratic National Committee, then yes, you will want the memo to come out."

"If you are Adam Schiff, who is consistently wrong when it comes to issues of disclosure. He didn't want us to find out any of this information. He fought -- in fact, Fusion GPS went to court to keep us from finding out that the Democrats paid for the dossier. If you are Adam Schiff, of course, you don't want the information to come out. You didn't want us to find it in the first place."

"This memo answers what I think overly legitimate questions and I do think the FBI should look at it before it is released. I have provided that counsel to Chairman Nunes, and I think that he has taken that under advisement," Gowdy said.

"I want to play face-off poker. I want the bureau to know everything that's in the memo. I think you will be surprised, it is not a hit piece on the department and the FBI. I would not have participated in it if that's what it was."

"Are you interested in whether or not the world's premier law enforcement agency relied on a work product produced and paid for by the Democratic National Committee?" Gowdy asked. "If they relied on [the dossier] half, is that significant enough for the American people to know? If they relied on it at all, would you want to know that? If you're the judge, do you want to know if a third of what you're providing to the court was paid for by a political opponent?"

"Whether it was relied upon 80% or 20%, do you want to know that the DNC paid for material that was never vetted, and was included in a court proceeding? Do you want to know whether or not the primary source in these court proceedings had a bias against one candidate? Do you want to know whether he said he'd 'do anything' to keep that candidate from being elected president?"

Unhinged: Michael Moore assails Trump, 'unfit,' 'narcissist, 'sociopath,' 'threat to humanity'

One of the chief organizers of Monday’s counter-State of the Union in New York City is charging that President Trump needs to be overthrown before he ends the world. Really.

Hollywood's Michael Moore, speaking for the event and MoveOn.org, went off on Trump in an email to supporters.

“Donald J. Trump has proven himself to be completely unfit for office, a threat to our country, and an imminent danger to the world. He is not well; he is a malignant narcissist and an active sociopath. And because he holds the codes to fire nuclear weapons, he is a singular threat to humanity,” he wrote.

Moore, with Mark Ruffalo, Whoopi Goldberg, Rosie Perez and Cynthia Nixon are headlining the Hollywood-filled New York event and MoveOn.org is fundraising off it. Trump gives his address to Congress on Tuesday.

Here is Moore’s note for MoveOn.org:

Dear fellow MoveOn member,
Donald J. Trump has proven himself to be completely unfit for office, a threat to our country, and an imminent danger to the world. He is not well; he is a malignant narcissist and an active sociopath. And because he holds the codes to fire nuclear weapons, he is a singular threat to humanity.

This situation is a nightmare. And the only reason that things aren't FAR WORSE than they already are is that millions of us have come together to engage in our democracy, resist, and organize.

But our problems go far beyond one sociopath president. The mission that we are on and the work that we must do is to tear down the rigged system that produced Trump in the first place. We must imagine the America that we want to live in. We must create the post-Trump America.

And this is actually possible: The fierce, determined Resistance movement that began after Trump's election could create an avalanche at the polls this November. Together, we can stop Trump and the GOP and begin the work of creating the country that we imagined.

That's why I'm doing everything I can, including taking part in the People's State of the Union on Monday—a high-profile, energizing event the night before Trump's State of the Union address. And I hope that you will do everything you can, too.

So here's my request to you: If you can swing it, will you chip in to MoveOn—to help provide the resources needed to empower regular Americans to pool our strength against the extraordinary challenges ahead and win back power this November?

Click here now to chip in $3—or whatever you can afford—and you'll help support MoveOn's work to lead the Resistance all the way to the polls. And as a way of saying thank you, MoveOn will enter you into a contest for an all-expenses-paid trip to attend the People's State of the Union event in New York City!

I'm joining Mark Ruffalo, Common, Whoopi Goldberg, Wanda Sykes, and Cynthia Nixon, as well as inspirational grassroots leaders and progressive organizing champions and MoveOn for the People's State of the Union event in New York City on Monday, the day before Trump gives his State of the Union speech in front of Congress. And maybe you can join us there, too!

Together, we will show that bully in the White House that we aren't going away. In fact, we're only getting stronger, and we'll be marching to the ballot boxes this fall.

Click here to chip in $3—or whatever you can afford—to support MoveOn's work to help lead the Resistance, and you'll be entered into the contest for an all-expenses-paid trip to the People's State of the Union event in New York City.
The past year has taught us that we can't sit back and hope that this will all go away.

And we cannot pretend that removing one individual from power will cure what ails our nation.

No; it's an all-hands-on-deck fight for our country and our democracy. Everybody's gotta step up!

Thanks for all you do.

–Michael Moore

Obama DOD Gave Security Clearance To Felons, Including Pedophiles

Source: Breitbart by: Edwin Mora

The Pentagon was forced last year to rescind interim security clearances granted under the Obama administration to at least 165 contractors linked to various crimes, including felony convictions for pedophilia and foreign government affiliations, revealed a report issued by the Director of the Defense Security Service (DSS).

According to the report, DOD contractors preserved their ability to access sensitive government information despite prior criminal records and other illicit past activity that the Pentagon’s vetting process failed to detect.

“Of those 165 cases, 151 people had pre-existing issues that they did not disclose and were not discovered during initial checks; the issues were not identified until the investigation was completed [in 2017],” noted the report, adding, “The interim decisions analyzed … actually occurred before 2017 and were subject to a final decision by the Defense Office of Hearings and Appeals (DOHA) in 2017.”

In other words, the Pentagon subjected the contractors to the first round of vetting under former President Barack Obama and the Trump administration discovered their deception last year.

Joy Villa Wears Anti-Abortion Dress On The 2018 Grammys Red Carpet

Singer Joy Villa made another statement on this year’s Grammy red carpet, stepping out on Sunday in a gown painted with a rainbow fetus and the words “choose life” on her purse.
The white dress and its colorful uterus detailing was paired with her statement purse and crown. This is far from Villa’s first conservative statement at the Grammys, as last year she wore a blue “Make America Great Again” dress that featured Donald Trump’s embellished along the back. In 2015, she again created controversy when she wore a sheer dress of orange netting.
Villa, who is also a Fox News contributor, posted on Twitter that she hand painted the wedding dress picked from the Bridal Garden, a non-profit with all proceeds going to Brooklyn Charter, a Bedford-Stuyvesant charity. The singer has long been vocal about her support for Trump and the conservative movement, featuring a picture with herself and Ivanka Trump on her Twitter profile.
