Just a random thought...Could Amarosa be the NY Times secret source on President Trump hit piece?

Obama Slams Trump by Name for First Time Since Leaving Office as ‘Symptom’ of Divisive Trends in Politics

Former President Barack Obama mentioned his successor by name in public for the first time since leaving office on Friday, saying Donald Trump was the "symptom" of a trend of resistance to positive progress.
Returning to a familiar theme of speeches in his presidency, Obama said at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign that the price of progress toward "our founding ideals" sometimes meant taking two steps back for every step forward.
"The status quo pushes back," he said. "Sometimes the backlash comes from people who are genuinely, if wrongly, fearful of change. More often, it's manufactured by the powerful and the privileged who want to keep us divided and keep us angry and keep us cynical because it helps them maintain the status quo and keep their power and keep their privilege."
He told the audience they were coming of age at one of those moments.
"It did not start with Donald Trump," he said. "He is a symptom. Not the cause. He's just capitalizing on resentments that politicians have been fanning for years. A fear, an anger that's rooted in our past but also borne out of the enormous upheavals that have taken place in your brief lifetimes."
Reporters noted it was the first time Obama had name-checked Trump since leaving office, although he's spoken with implicit criticism of Trump several times over the past year-and-a-half.

This is the first time he's namechecked "Donald Trump" since leaving office.

Obama's speech began with him making a strong push for Democratic turnout in the midterms. He said voters had a chance in November to restore "sanity to our politics."
Republican National Committee spokesman Michael Ahrens said in a statement that more Obama wouldn't help the Democrats.
"In 2016, voters rejected President Obama's policies and his dismissiveness towards half the country. Doubling down on that strategy won't work in 2018 either," he said.

Obama Calls Benghazi A Wild Conspiracy Theory. Benghazi Hero Levels Him.

Former President Barack Obama suggested on Friday that outrage over the 2012 attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi — which resulted in the deaths of four Americans — was a result of "wild conspiracy theories."
Obama, trying to help the Democrats in the 2018 midterms, attacked President Donald Trump while speaking at the University of Illinois where he accepted the Paul H. Douglas Award for Ethics in Government.
"But over the past few decades, the politics of division and resentment and paranoia has unfortunately found a home in the Republican party," Obama said.
Obama then attacked Republican members of Congress, accusing them of embracing "wild conspiracy theories like those surrounding Benghazi."

Shortly after Obama made his remarks, Kris Paronto, a former Army Ranger who was a private security contractor working for the CIA at the CIA annex in Benghazi, slammed Obama.
Paronto, who is credited with saving approximately 20 people during the attack, wrote on Twitter:
Benghazi is a conspiracy @BarackObama ?! How bout we do this, let’s put your cowardly ass on the top of a roof with 6 of your buddies & shoot rpg’s&Ak47’s at you while terrorists lob 81mm mortars killing 2 of your buddies all while waiting for US support that you never sent#scum

Oil ExportsU.S. crude oil exports saw an 80 percent increase in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year (Luke Sharrett/Bloomberg)

U.S. oil exports reached new soaring heights in the first six months of 2018, with half of all exports going to Europe and Asia and India shoring up the rest, according to new data from the federal government.
U.S. crude oil exports saw an 80 percent increase in the first half of 2018 compared to the same period last year, according to the latest data and analysis issued Thursday by the Energy Information Administration.
That's an increase of 787,000 barrels per day, to set a new monthly record in June of 2.2 million barrels on average per day.
The largest recipients of U.S. oil were in Asia, with U.S. crude oil exports to China more than doubling in the first six months of the year. U.S. crude oil to China grew by 193,000 barrels per day compared to the first half of 2017.
But U.S. oil exports to other countries in the region also rose significantly. Exports to South Korea and India jumped 81,000 barrels per days and 72,000 barrels per day, respectively, from the previous year.
Right behind the Asia market, Europe was the second-largest market for U.S. crude oil exports in the first half of the year. The continent received 555,000 barrels per day.
Canada was the only destination to which oil exports from the U.S. fell. Exports dropped 13,000 barrels per day in the first six months of the year. Canada has reached an impasse in trade negotiations with the Trump administration.
In Mexico, the situation was significantly different, especially when it came to gasoline. Mexico became the top destination for U.S. gasoline this year.
"Mexico accounted for more than half of U.S. motor gasoline exports in the first half of 2018, the largest single-destination concentration for any U.S. petroleum export," the EIA's Week in Petroleum analysis read on Thursday.
In the first half of 2018, U.S. gasoline exports accounted for over 60 percent of all gasoline consumed in Mexico, the agency reported.
Of course, Mexico has decided to move ahead on a preliminary revision of the North American Free Trade Agreement with the Trump administration.
The agency explained that the massive influx of U.S. gasoline into Mexico was the result of underinvestment in the country's refineries.
"Low refinery utilization has resulted in increased imports of motor gasoline and other petroleum products, from the United States," said EIA.

Trump’s Latest Border Plan Wall Cuts Out Congress Completely

From the very onset of the Donald Trump campaign for the presidency, one big ticket item has been at the forefront of his efforts:  A “big, beautiful” wall on the southern border.
border wall
Trump, like many Americans, recognizes the need for security as well as sovereignty.  By enforcing the laws laid out by those who came before us, we will guarantee that our nation remains the land of the free.  The leftist idea of open borders, on the other hand, creates a terrifyingly fluid idea of what a nation even is, squashing the uniqueness and individuality that makes our very existence here on the planet so meaningful.
Remember folks, without our differences, things would be rather bland, and the human race as a whole would be forced to find some other, more destructive way to entertain ourselves.  Homogeny is not the idea here.
Trump’s border wall is a step in the direction of national security and a land whose just laws are obeyed.  And with Congress continually refusing to act on the subject, President Trump is looking to the Pentagon for help.
President Donald Trump said Friday that he’s considering using military resources to finish construction of his long-promised border wall instead of relying on Congress to fund the project through the Homeland Security Department’s budget.
He also wouldn’t eliminate the possibility of a government shutdown if Democrats continue to confound his efforts to appropriate money for the project on the U.S.-Mexico border.
‘We have two options,’ he told DailyMail.com aboard Air Force One as he flew from Billings, Montana to Fargo, North Dakota. ‘We have military, we have homeland security.’
All we know is:  The sooner, the better.
Whatever it takes, Mr. President.

Texas Governor Erupts After Proposal To Change the Way the Alamo Is Taught

If you want to transform a society — start with the children. Teach them at an early age what you want society to be like in the future and they will make it so.
The left and conservatives have been in a virtual war for the minds of our youth for decades and now some Texans are fighting to keep the valor and heroism of one of their greatest historical battles at the forefront of history in school curriculums in their state.
In the never ending shifting of curriculum standards, state school boards struggle to jam pack content into daily lesson plans for K-12 courses of study. However Texans are conflicted as how to teach their students to remember the Alamo.
The Dallas News reported the struggle between the Texas State Board of Education and conservatives who want to keep heroism alive in the minds of Texas youths.
“A panel advising the State Board of Education on what seventh-graders should learn in their social studies courses has urged deleting the label “heroic” from a curriculum standard about the Alamo’s defenders.”
The word was value charged, in their opinion.
Why yes it is, and Texans — who are proud of their state heritage and values — are up in arms over this suggestion.
Barbara Stevens, president of Daughters of the Republic of Texas feels the word “heroic” is “critical” in teaching children the values of the soldiers who fought and died at the Alamo.
“Words like ‘heroic’ to describe such men are indeed ‘value charged,’ and it is because anything less would be a disservice to their memories. To minimize the study of the Republic of Texas is to fail to teach a pivotal portion of the state’s history,” she said.
Governor Greg Abbott has declared war on political correctness as the TSBOE tries to diminish the heroism of those brave soldiers who fought and died trying to protect the Alamo. He tweeted out a call for Texans to make their voices heard on this issue.
Stop political correctness in our schools. Of course Texas schoolchildren should be taught that Alamo defenders were ‘Heroic’! I fully expect the State Board of Education to agree. Should Texas School Children Be Taught That Alamo Defenders Were ‘Heroic’?

In addition to removing heroism from the description, the advisory panel advised removing the Travis Letter, or the “Victory or Death” letter from the curriculum as well.
“The advisory committee, made up of educators and historians, also suggested removing the requirement that students explain ‘the Travis Letter,’ sometimes referred to as the ‘Victory or Death’ letter. It was written by Lt. Col. William Barrett Travis during the Alamo battle. In it, he declared, ‘I shall never surrender or retreat’ from the thousand or more Mexican soldiers besieging the Alamo.
‘I am determined to sustain myself as long as possible and die like a soldier who never forgets what is due to his own honor and that of his country — victory or death,’ Travis wrote in 1836.”
The argument made by the advisory panel is that teachers can explain the context of the battle instead of requiring separate discussions of the details of the letter.
Texans are a proud people and the governor wasn’t the only one to speak in defense of not diminishing history.
This politically correct nonsense is why I’ll always fight to honor the Alamo defenders’ sacrifice. His letter & the defenders’ actions must remain at the very core of TX history teaching. This is not debatable to me. https://www.texasmonthly.com/news/texas-schoolchildren-taught-alamo-defenders-heroic/ …
State Board of Education Chair Donna Bahorich made this diplomatic statement on Twitter.

Our @TXSBOE work committees have done an EXCELLENT job of streamlining TX social studies standards, however, I do not support deleting one of the most iconic letters in US History for 7th grade. #HeroesAll #txed #RememberTheAlamo https://www.texasmonthly.com/news/texas-schoolchildren-taught-alamo-defenders-heroic/ …

In September of 2017 The Washington Post published a piece by Andrew Hartman, and he made an excellent point about how the public education is in a battle for the upper hand in the culture war.
“These curriculum controversies are not new. At their core is a debate over power and hierarchy in U.S. society. Those individuals and viewpoints that are valued in school curriculums have a decided advantage when it comes to making claims of moral authority. If American children, for example, grow up learning that evolutionary biology is the key to understanding human origins, creationist Americans will have a much more difficult time getting a hearing for their views and will thus lack moral authority in the important realm of science. Yet while curriculum battles shape and are shaped by the nation’s larger cultural wars, they also threaten to undermine a pillar of American democracy that should concern both sides: public education.”
“Heroism” is worth fighting for. It’s great to see that there are still those out there who are willing to stand up for what is right in spite of political correctness.
G’ day…Ciao…
