TRUMP SHOWS HEART

Happiness is loose dentures at SOTU…

The Trump Train is a coming --- his steam is in sight...

Polls Show a Majority of Americans Approved of Trump’s SOTU Speech, Most Tweets Ever

The numbers are in, and Democrats aren’t going to be happy about this.

A majority of Americans approved of President Trump’s very first State of the Union speech. In fact, the numbers are unequivocal: it was a smashing success! Take a look at this CBS poll conducted last night:

From the report: “Three in four Americans who tuned in to President Trump’s State of the Union address tonight approved of the speech he gave. Just a quarter disapproved.”

That’s an incredible disparity. A president who can bring together 75% of Americans on something is truly a president who can lead.

And who wouldn’t have loved Trump’s speech? From highlighting Congressman Steve Scalise, the lawmaker who survived multiple gunshot wounds over the summer, to paying special recognition to a little boy who started an initiative to decorate the graves of veterans, there were many highlights during the big speech.

But one of the biggest high points during the address didn’t happen during Trump’s remarks. It happened online, where the President just shattered another record.

Trump’s SOTU speech was the most tweeted about SOTU speech in American history. Twitter even verified that fact:

How very fitting! A president who used the social media platform to bypass the mainstream media just made history on the very same platform.

Could you imagine Hillary Clinton trying to use Twitter effectively? I can’t!

Overall, last night was a huge success for President Trump. The only people who don’t think so are bitter losers.

Be sure to let us know what you thought about President Trump’s first State of the Union

Forget Marco Rubio’s water bottle; What’s up with Rep. Joe Kennedy’s drool?

FACT-CHECK: NO, FALL RIVER, MASSACHUSETTS, WAS NOT ‘BUILT BY IMMIGRANTS’

Rep. Joe Kennedy III (D-MA) claimed the host-city of his response to President Donald Trump’s State of the Union address, Fall River, Massachusetts was “built by immigrants.”

That’s bunk.
Here are the facts about my hometown...
What is now Fall River was first established in the 1600s by English settlers who were not “immigrants” but colonists. A native-born family, the Bordens ran a mill in what became the town for generations before and after the American revolution. Industrialization began when Col. Joseph Durfee, a native-born Revolutionary War hero built the first factory in 1811. Later, at the end of the 19th Century a wave of immigrants swelled the city’s population. Immigrants, however, never made up a majority of the population of Bristol County, where Fall River lies, even at their early 20th Century peak.

Visionary

President Trump said today that he wants to "bring our country back from a tremendous divisiveness" that began in the Clinton era. Here's what he said during a White House lunch with TV anchors before tonight's State of the Union address:
“I would consider it a great achievement if we could make our country united, if I could unite the country.  That's not an easy thing to do because the views are so divergent.”
More from President Trump...
  • "I actually asked a longtime senator — happened to be a Democrat — 'Is this the worst [most divided] you've ever seen it?' He said, 'Absolutely not.  During the impeachment of Bill Clinton was much worse than this.'"

  • "[H]aving a business background and a successful business background is great, but oftentimes you do things that you would never do in business because you have to also govern with heart."

  • "[I]mmigration is so easy to solve if it was purely a business matter, but it's not.  And I think that's something that I've learned maybe more than anything else.

We interrupt this blog to share a bit about a a good baseball guy who is also a heckuva guy. We solicit your prayers for a genuine good guy. My God how we hate cancer.

Ex-MLB GM of Padres and Diamondbacks dead at 56

Kevin Towers, who spent more than 20 years as a general manager between stints with the San Diego Padres and Arizona Diamondbacks, has died at the age of 56.

Towers served as GM of the Padres from 1995 to 2009 and of the Diamondbacks from 2010 to 2014.

Towers had been battling thyroid cancer for a little more than a year.
His battle with cancer hadn’t been known to most people outside of baseball’s inner circle until Game 4 of last year’s World Series.
During a between-innings tribute to those afflicted with cancer, Astros manager A.J. Hinch held a card with Towers’ name on it. For many, Hinch’s sign was the first they learned of Towers’ illness.

Kevin Towers kept his fight with cancer private until #Astros manager AJ Hinch revealed it during the World Series.

Towers was one of most respected men in baseball. People around Towers idolized him, loved working for him and considered him family. Tough day for baseball.
Hinch was fired as manager of the Diamondbacks in July 2010, prior to the team hiring Towers as general manager a few months later.
The Padres have been around since 1969. They’ve made the playoffs 5 times. 4 of those were with Kevin Towers as GM. Yeah. #RIPKT
Towers had a 35-year career in professional baseball.
A pitcher in college, Towers was a first-round draft pick of the Padres in 1982. Arm injuries limited his career as a player, and he retired after eight seasons without ever making it into the big leagues.

Kevin Towers, one of the greatest people this game has ever known, and the ultimate fighter, has passed away from cancer. Unbelievable. He will be greatly missed. Loved that man
He then transitioned to being a scout for the Padres, and eventually was promoted to be the team’s scouting director before being promoted to general manager. After taking over as general manager in San Diego, the Padres won their division in two of the next three seasons and advanced to the World Series in 1998. San Diego also won the division title in 2005 and 2006.
Towers was dismissed by the Padres after the 2009 season, but he wasn’t unemployed for long. Arizona signed him to be its general manager in 2010.
A year later, Arizona won the National League West with a 94-68 record before losing to the Milwaukee Brewers in the NLDS. Arizona went 320-328 during his time with the team.

Trey Gowdy: FISA Memo Will Be ‘Embarrassing to Adam Schiff’
by JEFF POOR

Tuesday on Fox News Channel’s “Fox & Friends,” Rep. Trey Gowdy (R-SC) said a memo that the House Intelligence Committee voted on Monday to make public would be “embarrassing” to the Intel Committee’s ranking Democrat Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA).
Gowdy prefaced his remarks by saying he supported special counsel Robert Mueller “100 percent” in his effort to investigate Russian interference in the 2016 presidential election and noted how Schiff had gone out of his way to prevent the public from finding out details.
“[L]ook, my Democratic colleagues didn’t want us to find this information,” Gowdy explained. “They did everything they could to keep us from finding this information.”
“I think it will be embarrassing to Adam Schiff once people realize the extent to which he went to keep them from learning any of this,” he continued. “That would be the embarrassment … I mean, going to court to help Fusion GPS so we can’t find out they paid for the dossier, and that they were working for the DNC. That’s a pretty big step to go to court to try to keep the American people from learning something. So, if it were up to Adam Schiff, you wouldn’t know about Hillary Clinton’s email. You wouldn’t know about the server. You wouldn’t know about the dossier. I do find it ironic that he has his own memo right now because if it were up to him, we wouldn’t know any of it.”

Donald Trump to Honor Pre-Teen for Placing Flags on Soldiers’ Graves

by WARNER TODD HUSTON

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania will take time during Tuesday's State of the Union (SOTU) address to honor Preston Sharp, a California boy, who has been placing miniature American flags on the graves of soldiers since 2015.

President Donald Trump and first lady Melania took time during Tuesday’s State of the Union (SOTU) address to honor a California boy who has been placing miniature American flags on the graves of soldiers since 2015.

Preston Sharp, a 12-year-old from Redding, California, started placing the flags on graves to honor the service of American soldiers when he was ten, his family says. The boy was invited to sit in the gallery as first lady Melania Trump’s guest at President Trump’s first State of the Union address, according to a statement released by the White House.
“Preston Sharp was visiting his veteran grandfather’s grave in 2015 when he noticed that other local veterans were not being honored with American flags or flowers,” the White House said in its statement. “Today, Preston has organized the placement of more than 40,000 American flags and red carnations on soldiers’ graves.”
“I knew I wanted to do something, because if it wasn’t for them fighting for us then we wouldn’t be here,” the patriotic young boy told the media.
Preston has also helped raise money to assist in the upkeep of soldiers’ graves.
Press secretary Sarah Sanders noted that inviting guests to attend the SOTU is an important tradition.
Others invited by the first couple include a police officer who adopted a drug-addicted child, small business owners, first-time homeowners affected by the tax reform bill, and an Army sergeant who survived the trauma of an improvised explosive device (IED).
The Trumps will also honor the parents of two teens who were murdered in September 2016 by members of the vicious foreign gang MS-13. Parents Elizabeth Alvarado, Robert Mickens, Evelyn Rodriguez, and Freddy Cuevas will be in the gallery to memorialize their slain daughters, Nisa Mickens and Kayla Cuevas.

Adam Schiff’s Versions Of Events Are Frequently False Or Missing Key Details
Adam Schiff is portrayed by many in the media as a straight shooter. His record in reality is of fanning the flames of every single Trump-Russia collusion allegation out there.
By Mollie Hemingway

Yesterday the House Permanent Select Committee On Intelligence voted to release a four-page summary document alleging surveillance abuses by the Justice Department and FBI. The committee’s memo has been available to all 435 House members for more than a week. Some of those who read it described it as “troubling,” “shocking,” “jaw-dropping,” “sickening,” and “criminal.”
FBI Director Christopher Wray reviewed the memo on Sunday. As soon as the committee had finished voting, ranking member Rep. Adam Schiff ran to the cameras to spin the news. From that point, he began explaining things in a non-truthful manner. This inability or unwillingness to accurately convey information is not a surprise so much as a regular feature of his work with journalists, but it’s worth noting how that played out in just one few-hour span.

1: Omitting Facts About Committee Business

For background, Schiff has spent the last week and a half upset that the majority’s memo alleging abuses was available for House review. He and his fellow Democrats had voted against making such a memo available to the House, much less the public. He said it was reckless to discuss anything in the memo and that it compromised national security. A compliant media lapped it up. He announced, though, that he had created a counter-memo in support of the Trump-Russia collusion theory we keep hearing about.
Today, as the committee gathered to vote on releasing their memo to the public, following its lengthy House review, Schiff asked the Intelligence Committee to release his memo. His memo is on the same subject matter, risking the same national security threat he had wailed about for a week, with the same supposed risk to sources and methods. Only he is okay with his memo having these supposed problems.
Unlike what happened when Republicans on the committee asked Democrats for that vote, Republicans joined with Democrats to unanimously support his memo’s release to the House — the same process used for the majority memo. Here’s his claim: “The ‘release the memo crowd’ apparently doesn’t want to release the memo now. The most they would do is say that at some indeterminate point, a week or so from now, they would consider whether to release the minority memo.”
In other words, following the exact same process used for the majority’s memo.

2: False Statements About the Committee

Schiff then went on to say, “I should also mention that it was disclosed to the minority today for the first time that the majority has evidently opened an investigation of the FBI, and an investigation of the Department of Justice. Under our committee rules, of course, that has to be the product of consultation with minority, but we learned about that for the first time here today.”
One trademark of Schiff’s leaks to the media is that they’re frequently process complaints. In December, a media outlet ran with Schiff’s process complaint alleging that House Republicans were “quietly” investigating perceived corruption at DOJ and the FBI without notifying minority members.
Now, it’s an implausible claim given that Republicans all the way up to and including Speaker of the House Paul Ryan had been screaming bloody murder about FBI and DOJ obstruction of committee requests. Perhaps the subpoenas to these entities from the committee were a clue that they were looking into them. Just because Schiff voted against finding out information from these agencies doesn’t mean the committee agreed with him. It certainly doesn’t mean he was kept in the dark.
Besides, Rep. Devin Nunes actually went on live national TV to talk about his committee’s investigation into these matters.

3: False Information about Nunes

Finally, Schiff referenced a committee hearing and added: “The very next day, our chairman went on what is known as the ‘midnight run,’ to obtain documents that he would, the following day go to present to the White House, claiming that they showed evidence of an unmasking conspiracy of the Obama administration.”
Well, it’s “known” as the “midnight run” because Schiff mischaracterized it as Nunes sneaking into the White House in the “dead of night” to avoid detection. Reporter Tim Mak, then with Daily Beast, wrote a story sourced to anonymous sources, if you can imagine, that turned out to be not true. It told a dramatic tale of jumping out of cars in the middle of the night.
Yet it was not a “midnight run” but a visit to a national security staffer in the middle of the day, while the sun was out. Nunes corrected the false reporting on the record — on air with CNN’s Wolf Blitzer, in fact — on March 27, 2017. It’s around at the 4:00 minute mark of an interview full of process questions.
Schiff is such a partisan speaker and actor that it’s odd to see him speaking with any authority about a serious investigation into abuses at the agencies he purports to oversee. For instance, he said:
We would very soon learn that in fact he’d obtained that information from the White House, and it was a charade. That charade was designed to do the White House’s bidding. And I’m afraid today is just the continuation of that same priority of the chairman and that same phenomenon. This is an effort to circle the wagons around the White House and distract from the Russia probe.
As Jonah Goldberg snarked:
Yet, or maybe because of this, Schiff is clearly one of CNN’s best sources for their Russia-Trump collusion theory, no matter how much they get burned.
Schiff is portrayed by many in the media as being a straight shooter. His record in reality is of fanning the flames of absolutely every single Trump-Russia collusion allegation out there. Just this past week he pushed the false claim that Americans’ desire to see the House Intel Committee’s memo was in reality a Russian bot operation. Despite being a ranking member of an oversight committee, he lacks curiosity and interest into potential abuses at the FBI.
Nothing seems to have merited his attention in the slightest. He has not sought to follow-up on explosive texts about a Russia probe being an “insurance policy” because agents couldn’t take “the risk” of a Trump presidency. He is not interested in reports of the wife of top Justice official Bruce Ohr literally being employed by Fusion GPS, or by his change in employment as a result of this revelation. He had no problem with Fusion GPS being funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign. He’s opposed subpoenas to Fusion, to the Department of Justice, to the FBI.
The memo won’t be released until this weekend at the earliest, due to House rules giving the president five days to object to its release.

Russian jet flies dangerously close to U.S. aircraft – within 5 feet over the Black Sea on Monday

Russian jet flies dangerously close to U.S. aircraft – within 5 feetAndrey Khachatryan / Shutterstock.com

The U.S. Navy said the interaction was unprovoked and characterized the interception as “unsafe.”
Russia denied the maneuver was anything out of the ordinary.

Russian recklessness

A Russian SU-27 fighter jet crossed the flight path of a U.S. EP-3 Aries surveillance aircraft to force the U.S. plane, which was nearing Russian airspace, to abort its mission. The encounter occurred in international airspace over the Black Sea.
“On Jan. 29, 2018, a U.S. EP-3 Aries aircraft flying in international airspace over the Black Sea was intercepted by a Russian SU-27,” the Navy said in a statement.
“This interaction was determined to be unsafe due to the SU-27 closing to within five feet and crossing directly through the EP-3’s flight path, causing the EP-3 to fly through the SU-27’s jet wash,” the statement continued.
The Russian plane followed the EP-3 for two and a half hours.
“The Russian military is within its right to operate within international airspace, but they must behave within international standards set to ensure safety and prevent incidents,” said the statement. “Unsafe actions increase the risk of miscalculation and midair collisions.”

Russia denies “abnormal” situation

Russia claimed there was nothing out of the ordinary in its response to the U.S. craft getting too close for comfort to Russian airspace.
“The whole flight of the Russian Su-27 was strictly in accordance with international airspace rules, there were no abnormal situations,” said a statement from Russia’s Ministry of Defense.
The fighter jet pursued the U.S. plane after picking up an “unidentified flying target” on its radar.
According to Russian officials, the Russian craft approached the EP-3 at a “safe distance.” Additionally, they noted: “[T]he crew of the fighter jet reported the identification of the American reconnaissance aircraft and accompanied it, preventing it from violating Russian airspace, observing all necessary security measures.”
After successfully forcing the U.S. surveillance aircraft to change its course, the Russian jet returned to the airfield.
The U.S. State Department condemned the careless maneuver.
“This is but the latest example of Russian military activities disregarding international norms and agreements,” the US State Department said.
“We call on Russia to cease these unsafe actions that increase the risk of miscalculation, danger to aircrew on both sides, and mid air collisions.”

Sanders Massively Disrespects Flag During SOTU, Camera Shows It on Live TV

Sanders Disrespects Trump By Not Standing
There were very few things during President Donald Trump’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday that everyone decided to stand for en masse. In fact, it seems like some Democrats merely showed up so that the cameras could catch them looking salty at everything that came out of the president’s mouth.
One of the things that was almost an exception to the rule was the president’s mention of the American flag. Now, the Democrats usually don’t have a problem trashing the American flag, but 2018 is a midterm election year and sitting down while the American flag is being mentioned generally isn’t a good look with voters.
However, you noticed I said almost an exception. That’s because one kinda-sorta-Democrat — Independent Sen. Bernie Sanders, a socialist who caucuses with the Dems and mounted a strong run for their presidential nomination in 2016 — decided that the flag wasn’t worth standing for.
The incident came during a portion of the speech during which the president was talking about unity and “what kind of a nation we’re going to be.”
“All of us, together, as one team, one people, and one American family can do anything,” the president said.
“We all share the same home, the same heart, the same destiny and the same great American flag,” Trump said, emphasizing the last four words.
This had even the Democrats up and cheering, if in a relatively desultory fashion. After all, they prefer standing for a few seconds to losing their jobs.
One lawmaker among their ranks was not like the others, however, and the TV cameras definitely caught it:
Comrade Sanders is not impressed. He only stands for “The Internationale.”
While the Democrats are perfectly happy to stand behind flag-burners and anthem-kneelers the rest of the year, I suppose that desultory applause for the flag is better than no applause at all.
And the fact is, much like any State of the Union, there was plenty of conspicuous sitting during uncontroversial statements that should have brought down the room during any other time — like detailing the defeat of the Islamic State group in the Middle East, which Trump actually had to prompt the Democrat side of the aisle to stand during.
However, given that Sanders seems to at least be positioning himself to run against Trump in 2020, the fact that he was sitting during a round of applause for the flag, of all things, proves yet again just how far to the left he is.
I don’t wish to speculate on Sanders’ motives, which I’m sure he’ll reveal in the coming days. The fact is that for a party that preaches it’s closer to the American vision than the Republicans, they may have a nominee that won’t even stand for the flag.
For a party that preaches that it isn’t about division, this is about as divisive a stand as it’s possible for a candidate to take.
And for a party that keeps on trying to assure America that it’s learned the lessons of 2016, one of their front-runners has proven yet again many of them haven’t got a clue.
Please like and share on Facebook and Twitter if you think Sanders’ decision to sit was anti-American.
What do you think about Sanders' behavior?
