Documents reveal FBI claimed McCabe had no conflict of interest ‘investigating’ Hillary

Documents reveal FBI claimed McCabe had no conflict of interest ‘investigating’ HillaryMaria_Ermolenko / Shutterstock.com
The mainstream media attempted to portray former-FBI Director James Comey as honest, unbiased, apolitical, and a regular boy scout. But the information released so far paints Comey as anything but honest and apolitical. Now the mainstream media is at it again, this time with Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
The FBI claimed that FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe had no conflict of interest in the probe into Hillary Clinton’s private email server. According to internal FBI documents released Friday, McCabe did not have an oversight role in the investigation of Clinton’s private email server until his wife lost her bid for a Virginia State Senate seat in November of 2015. McCabe took an active oversight role in the Clinton investigation in February of 2016, three months later.
A “system of recusal” was allegedly put into place to prevent any inherent conflict of interest.
The release of these documents comes amid accusations against McCabe by Republicans of political bias and conflict of interest. The media has used them as “proof” that McCabe had no conflict of interest.

Bias or Coincidence?

The internal FBI documents attempt to portray McCabe as an apolitical official. According to the documents, McCabe spoke to ethics officials regarding any potential conflict of interests that could possibly arise due to his wife’s candidacy. The records state:
From the first contemplation that his wife would run for office in Virginia, [McCabe] sought out and consulted with ethics officers, which included briefings on the Hatch Act.
McCabe’s supporters claim that because he did not have an active role in the Clinton investigation until after his wife lost the election, there is no conflict of interest. McCabe’s detractors are not so sure.
President Trump, along with Republicans in Congress, raised concerns that McCabe might have a conflict of interest due to the roughly $700,000 of financial support that was given to his wife’s campaign by a super-PAC associated with Virginia Governor Terry McAuliffe, a close associate of the Clintons.
How can FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe, the man in charge, along with leakin’ James Comey, of the Phony Hillary Clinton investigation (including her 33,000 illegally deleted emails) be given $700,000 for wife’s campaign by Clinton Puppets during investigation?
McCabe is expected to be retiring soon; reportedly, he will stay in place just long enough to earn full pension benefits.

Forgetful Memory

McCabe has been vocally supportive of James Comey and has dutifully claimed that Comey has done nothing wrong. However, when asked about important details, McCabe’s memory is fuzzy.
The crux of the argument against Comey, McCabe, and Peter Strzok, a top FBI agent in both the Clinton email probe and the Trump-Russia investigation, is that their political bias compromised their investigations.
We know that Comey had already planned on exonerating Clinton months before he completed the investigation. Strzok helped change the wording of the Comey’s testimony of her actions, essentially changing the legal standard from a felony to a misdemeanor. Strozk bragged about an “insurance policy” against Donald Trump.
Then comes McCabe. For him, the pressing question continues to be: Did the FBI use the Clinton-funded and unverified anti-Trump “Russia dossier” to justify opening an investigation into the Trump administration?
When asked by a congressional committee when he became aware that the dossier had been funded by the Clinton campaign, McCabe conveniently forgot. Fox News reports:
The sources said that when asked when he learned that the dossier had been funded by the Hillary Clinton campaign and the Democratic National Committee, McCabe claimed he could not recall – despite the reported existence of documents with McCabe’s own signature on them establishing his knowledge of the dossier’s financing and provenance.
McCabe seems to have a good memory about his friend Comey, asking ethical officials about a potential conflict of interest, and doing the “right thing.” Unfortunately, it seems he has a terrible memory for recalling “unimportant” details like when he knew the dossier was funded by the Clinton campaign.

Questions Remain

Is it any wonder that the FBI’s credibility is suffering? The conflict of interest is not linear. If McCabe’s wife’s political ambitions were financially supported by a Clinton confidant, then it stands to reason that McCabe’s impartiality could very well have been compromised, even after the loss of his wife’s political bid.
This becomes even more probable as the evidence of political bias continues emerging for other FBI agents under his supervision. No, these documents do not exonerate McCabe; if anything, they raise more questions than answers.

Steve Bannon Issues Statement: My Support Is ‘Unwavering’ for Trump and His Agenda

Stephen K. Bannon, executive chair of Breitbart News and former White House chief strategist, issued the following statement on Sunday:

“Donald Trump, Jr. is both a patriot and a good man. He has been relentless in his advocacy for his father and the agenda that has helped turn our country around.
“My support is also unwavering for the president and his agenda — as I have shown daily in my national radio broadcasts, on the pages of Breitbart News and in speeches and appearances from Tokyo and Hong Kong to Arizona and Alabama. President Trump was the only candidate that could have taken on and defeated the Clinton apparatus. I am the only person to date to conduct a global effort to preach the message of Trump and Trumpism; and remain ready to stand in the breach for this president’s efforts to make America great again.
“My comments about the meeting with Russian nationals came from my life experiences as a Naval officer stationed aboard a destroyer whose main mission was to hunt Soviet submarines to my time at the Pentagon during the Reagan years when our focus was the defeat of ‘the evil empire’ and to making films about Reagan’s war against the Soviets and Hillary Clinton’s involvement in selling uranium to them.
“My comments were aimed at Paul Manafort, a seasoned campaign professional with experience and knowledge of how the Russians operate. He should have known they are duplicitous, cunning and not our friends. To reiterate, those comments were not aimed at Don Jr.
“Everything I have to say about the ridiculous nature of the Russian ‘collusion’ investigation I said on my 60 Minutes interview. There was no collusion and the investigation is a witch hunt.
“I regret that my delay in responding to the inaccurate reporting regarding Don Jr has diverted attention from the president’s historical accomplishments in the first year of his presidency.”

Oregon Residents Freak Out After Ban on Self-Service Gas Stations Repealed
By Chris White

Talk about a state full of snowflakes. It’s not even the People's Republic of Massachusetts.

People are raising cane on social media about a law in Oregon making it legal for citizens to pump their own gas.
A law passed through Oregon’s legislature in May and signed into law in June will allow counties with 40,000 residents or fewer to pump their own gas.
Oregonians are not pleased about the change.
The law, which takes effect Monday, has created a minor firestorm in rural parts of Oregon, where full-service gas stations have rued the day since 1951.
A local CBS affiliate in Medford, Oregon, asked its viewers on Facebook about the new law – the responses have ranged from anger to confusion.
“I don’t even know HOW to pump gas and I am 62, native Oregonian…..I say NO THANKS! I don’t want to smell like gasoline!” one woman wrote in a comment on a survey the new station posted Dec. 29.
The poll elicited more than a thousand responses.
Another shared her opinion, with several commenters suggesting full-service gas stations are safer than those permitting residents to feel the exhilaration of filling their own tanks.
“It is safer for people, if a station attendant does the service. The only advantage of pumping the gas yourself, would be paying a few cents less a gallon. Getting older, and being disabled, I’d rather have the help!” another person wrote, noting there are times when attendants are welcomed.
Still other Facebook denizens were dismissive toward those expressing concerns about a change to the six-decade old law.
“It’s official. Oregon is full of mentally defective, full grown children, incapable of the most mundane of adult task,” wrote one person whose reaction was a common one on the thread.
Oregon reformed the law in 2015.
The change allowed motorists to pump their own fuel at night, but the state is still one of two in the country that ban self-service.
Motorists in New Jersey, for instance, face stiff penalties for touching pumps – fines range between $50 and $250 for the first offense and up to $500 for subsequent offenses.
Can anyone say the Bay State is not alone with snowflake type jackasses.

While Mueller Pursues Investigation, Trump Drops A Bombshell Question Of His Own

As special counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged Russian collusion of the 2016 election continues on, President Donald Trump has one big question on his mind.
“Whatever happened to Podesta?”
“They closed their firm, they left in disgrace, the whole thing, and now you never heard of anything,” the president said during a wide-ranging New York Times interview.
Trump was referring to Tony Podesta, the founder of The Podesta Group and brother of former Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta. Like members of Trump’s presidential campaign, Podesta has also found himself at the center of Mueller’s growing FBI inquiry.
During The Times interview, the president said he believed Muller would treat him fairly, but he also expressed frustration that Podesta has seemingly escaped scrutiny since stepping down from the firm he founded in October.
The long-time Democrat is under investigation for activities similar to those of former Trump campaign manager Paul Manafort.
Manafort, having a long history of lobbying for foreign entities, led a public relations campaign for a nonprofit called the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine. Podesta Group also took part in promoting Ukraine in the United States, being one of several firms that were paid to do public relations work, according to Politico.
His group filed paperwork with the Justice Department indicating that it had worked on behalf of the European Centre for a Modern Ukraine, benefiting the same Ukrainian political party that Manafort advised.
In late October, Manafort was indicted on an array of charges that included money laundering, failing to disclose overseas bank accounts, operating as an agent of the Ukrainian government and making false statements to federal authorities.
Trump severed ties with Manafort during the election as it became apparent law enforcement was looking into him.
The president has since tried to put distance between himself and the beleaguered lobbyist.
“Paul only worked for me for a few months,” he explained.
“Paul worked for Ronald Reagan. His firm worked for John McCain, worked for Bob Dole, worked for many Republicans for far longer than he worked for me. And you’re talking about what Paul was many years ago before I ever heard of him. He worked for me for — what was it, three and a half months?”
Podesta, for his part, has not endured much public scrutiny since stepping down from his firm a couple months ago and it’s not exactly known what action federal authorities will take regarding his investigation.
Along with believing that more attention should be placed on Podesta’s past lobbying activities, the Republican president spoke at length about the FBI investigation that has haunted his first year in the White House.
Pushing back against their allegations, the president said that Democrats concocted claims of Russian collusion “as a hoax, as a ruse, as an excuse for losing an election.”
Trump also asserted that “everybody knows” his 2016 campaign staff did not collude with any Russian officials and even reversed the accusations by suggesting Democrats were the ones who worked with Russians during the presidential election.
Around seven months have passed since Muller was appointed to lead an investigation, but no charges have yet been brought forward against the president.
“There’s been no collusion. But I think he’s going to be fair,” Trump said of Mueller.

Owner Who Banned Muslims From Gun Range Now Running for Governor
A conservative woman who banned Muslims from her gun range has announced plans to throw her hat into the political ring.
Jan Morgan, owner of the Gun Cave Indoor Firing Range in Hot Springs, announced on Dec. 31 that she will be running for governor of Arkansas.
Morgan will be challenging incumbent Asa Hutchinson in the Republican primary in 2018.
Hutchinson was elected in 2014.
Morgan has been very critical of Hutchinson, saying the governor “campaigns like a conservative Republican but governs like a liberal Democrat,” according to the Texarkana Gazette.
Prior to announcing a run for governor, Morgan made headlines in 2014 when she had a direct message for radical Islamic extremists, and banned Muslims from her firing range, as Fox News reported at the time.
“I refuse to train the next Islamic terrorist,” Morgan wrote on her site JanMorganMedia, explaining her decision.
Citing safety concerns, Morgan said that the religion of Islam represents and promotes a “theocracy, terrorist organization, not a religion.”
Naturally, the story drew major attention, including a lengthy (and reasonably fair) interview in The Washington Post.
According to The Arkansas Times, Morgan has been a stalwart for the Second Amendment and will likely make that a top issue for her campaign.
Morgan said she plans to hold an event toward the end of the month to speak with voters and discuss the issues they care deeply about.
If elected, Morgan would become the first female governor of Arkansas.

While Morgan would be an ardent advocate for several conservative issues, her candidacy would make her a lightning rod in national politics.
It’s unclear how Morgan will fare against Hutchinson, but one could certainly assume it’s going to be an interesting, and possibly raucous Republican primary.
Get ready for fireworks, Arkansas.

Al Gore: The Earth Is Getting Colder Because It’s Getting Warmer

Al Gore is starting to look less like an “expert” and more like a radical zealot.
Scientists look at the real world and work carefully to reach a conclusion that fits. Fanatics work backwards: They take an assumption that they want desperately to be true, and force it on top of reality like hammering a square peg into a round hole.
That’s exactly what the failed presidential candidate seems to be doing, after he bent over backwards to explain that freezing temperatures in the U.S. are proof that, er, the world is overheating.
As much of the country battles bitter cold weather and temperatures in the negative range, Al Gore used Twitter to spread his twisted brand of circular reasoning.
“It’s bitter cold in parts of the US, but climate scientist Dr. Michael Mann explains that’s exactly what we should expect from the climate crisis,” the politician-turned-guru declared.
In other words: Freezing cold is just part of the planet overheating. Now, stop asking questions!
“Climate crisis,” of course, is a term that’s being used as a substitute for “global warming,” which fell out of favor as a talking point with people more worried about freezing to death. Make no mistake, global warming is still what Gore is peddling, no matter the label.
For instance, the former vice president famously predicted that global warming would cause the arctic ice cap to melt… with a due-date of several years ago. It didn’t happen.
“Updated data from NASA satellite instruments reveal the Earth’s polar ice caps have not receded at all since the satellite instruments began measuring the ice caps in 1979,” Forbes Magazine reported in 2015.
“Ice growth during November 2017 averaged 30,900 square miles per day,” the National Snow and Ice Data Center stated earlier this month.
It would be one thing if global warming zealots like Al Gore admitted that they came to the wrong conclusions, and updated their models and predictions to match reality — you know, like actual scientists do.
Instead, leftists are engaging in the exact same broken logic they claim to despise. The crowd constantly lectures people that “weather is not climate,” and a short-term spell is not the same as a long-term trend.
That’s what they did after Donald Trump posted a tongue-in-cheek take down of global warming. The president humorously pointed out that the East Coast was facing near-record low temperatures over New Year’s Day, while liberals smugly scolded him that weather isn’t climate.
Yet — magically — when Al Gore needs it to make his case, it suddenly is. Gore simply flipped the same argument, and pointed at the recent cold snap as “evidence” of earth-threatening climate change.
Media outlets frequently do the same thing: Use heat waves in the summer to whip up doom-and-gloom articles about global warming, while suddenly forgetting about the “connection” when icy winter weather shows up.
Here’s a thought: Maybe we don’t actually know enough about millennia-long climate patterns to predict the future. Maybe we should keep digging and asking questions, and not treat people who have healthy skepticism as some sort of Inquisition-era heretics to be burned at the stake.
That would never sell documentaries, though. Inconvenient truth, indeed.
Please press “Share on Facebook” if you think Al Gore needs to just stop talking!

Investigators: Pulse Nightclub Shooter’s Wife Knew Husband Was Planning Islamist Attack

by BEN KEW

Taxpayers will be forced to pay for the legal fees of Noor Salman, the wife of Orlando terrorist Omar Mateen, who pledged allegiance to the Islamic State, according to a motion her attorneys filed in court released Monday.

The wife of the Pulse nightclub shooter, Omar Mateen, knew her husband was “going to do something bad” in the hours before he carried out his deadly attack, investigators have revealed.

The Orlando Sentinel reports that Mateen’s wife, Noor Salman, was aware that her husband was planning something “bad” just hours before he opened fire at Pulse nightclub in Orlando in 2016, killing 49 people and injuring at least 68 others.
“I knew on Saturday when Omar left the house about 5 p.m. that this was the time that he was going to do something bad. I knew this because of the way he left and took the gun and backpack with ammunition,” Salman reportedly said in a statement.
“I knew later, when I could not get ahold of him that my fears had come true and he did what he said he was going to do,” she reportedly continued. “I was in denial and I could not believe that the father of my child was going to hurt other people.”
She also allegedly revealed to investigators that Mateen had become obsessed with violence in the Middle East and was watching numerous Islamic State (ISIS) recruitment videos and that the couple even drove around the Pulse nightclub a week before the massacre took place.
“How upset are people going to be when it gets attacked?” Mateen said, according to Salman’s statement, while she claimed she “knew he was talking about himself doing the attack on the Pulse.”
Salman will face trial in March for providing material support to a terrorist group and obstruction of justice. Defence lawyers for Salman are currently trying to exclude her statements to the FBI as evidence in the trial on grounds that they were coerced by authorities.

On the economy, Trump has been crazy like a fox

One thing we don’t have to worry about is the economic sanity of President Trump.

In fact, it’s safe to say that the current president, for all his temperamental flaws and petty insecurities, makes his tightly wound predecessor, Barack Obama, look like a raving madman when it comes to showing sense on economic growth. Armchair psychiatrists are having a field day diagnosing the president’s mental state from afar, especially after his increasingly bizarre tweeting, but the market says otherwise.

Consider: The United States had one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world — so high that companies (and jobs) were fleeing to places like Ireland. That’s why it was perfectly sane to lower the corporate tax rate from 35 percent to 21 percent as Trump just did, and presto: Corporations are announcing plans to hire more workers, and the economy, which was expected to slow after seven years of weak growth, is heating up. The markets are predicting that growth with their surge.

Likewise, regulations have been strangling businesses for years while making it difficult for banks to lend to consumers and small business. Trump went out and hired perfectly sane regulators who basically pulled the federal government’s boot off the neck of the business community.

It was described to me as a de facto tax cut by one business owner that gives him leeway to hire more people. A major win for the working class.

And since so many of my fellow journalists are at it, let me do a little psychoanalysis of what an economically insane person might do as president.

An insane president would threaten a significant tax increase immediately upon taking office following a financial crisis, and then eventually impose one on individuals and small businesses still in recovery.

He’d impose job-crushing regulations on these same businesses as unemployment rose. He’d put a cumbersome mandate on businesses that upends the entire health care system just as the economy was finally turning a corner.

A really insane president would blow nearly $1 trillion on a stimulus plan with little planning and direction, wasting much of the money on boondoggles (see: Solyndra) and then laugh at the lack of “shovel ready” jobs created. He’d then try to spread his delusion to the masses, telling them to ignore historically low wage growth, anemic economic growth and the massive amount of people who dropped out of the workforce because the stock market rallied, thanks in large part to the Fed printing money instead of his own fiscal policies.

Is Barack Obama crazy? No, but his post-2008 economic policies were. Are all Trump’s tweets sane? No, but smart investors with lots of skin in the game think his policies are perfectly rational, and that’s why the markets are soaring along with the prospect of economic growth.

Can Trump just sit back and act like a clown for the rest of his presidency as the economy and markets lift all boats? No again. Relying on the markets or the economy to disguise abhorrent presidential behavior is a fool’s game. Corrections always occur, and will occur if corporate earnings don’t match the investor enthusiasm built into Dow’s recent rise.

An unexpected burst of inflation that would force the Fed to raise interest rates could hurt both stocks and GDP. Trump might indulge his inner populist and engage in a trade war with China, or repeal NAFTA, both of which would undoubtedly hurt economic growth and stocks.

For all the good things about the business side of the tax reform bill, other parts are more complicated: Small businesses got a sliver of the tax breaks given to corporations; same goes for working-class people who don’t pay much in federal income taxes in the first place. But people who do pay a lot may get crushed when tax season rolls around. Individuals in high-tax states (like New York) could get hammered because the plan barely lowers the top rate and plugs so many deductions.

To pay for their higher taxes, these people could curb their personal spending, meaning less economic growth and possibly lower stock prices.

But none of these hiccups suggest a madman is at the helm of the US economy, which is something to consider the next time you hear Donald Trump is crazy.
