Paul Ryan: ‘Planned Parenthood Is Not Funded’ in Budget Reconciliation Bill

paul ryan

House Speaker Paul Ryan said Tuesday during a press conference that “Planned Parenthood is not funded” in the budget reconciliation bill that Republicans should be able to get through the Senate with only 51 votes.

Ryan differentiated between the omnibus appropriations bill – which Republicans negotiated with Democrats – and the budget reconciliation bill, and said the former requires 60 votes in the Senate, while the latter only requires 51 votes.
“Look at what all our pro-life groups are saying,” Ryan said. “They’re saying that Planned Parenthood legislation needs to be in the reconciliation bill – as it is – because that’s how you get it into law.”
Ryan continued:
We always knew that it takes 60 votes to pass an appropriations bill through the Senate. This bill does not have funding for Planned Parenthood. That’s important. The reconciliation bill advances the pro-life cause even further. So, no Planned Parenthood funding in here. And, by the way, [HHS Secretary] Tom Price is now the person who approves grants that go out to the states. So, we feel very comfortable we are working hand in glove with the administration to advance our pro-life priorities.
So, number one – they’re advanced here. We keep all our Hyde Amendment riders. And then our reconciliation bill – that’s the bill that you don’t need 60 votes on – that’s the bill that you don’t need to have Democrats with, and that’s the bill that where we’re advancing our cause even further, and that’s why these two efforts in conjunction with one another advance our cause and our principles quite a bit.
In a press release, Ryan’s office wrote Americans “should know” that the omnibus bill Republicans agreed to “protects life,” but only provides reference to the Hyde Amendment as proof of that claim.
“The bill reaffirms the Hyde amendment and prohibits federal funding of abortions,” Ryan’s office asserts. “It also specifically limits the District of Columbia from using federal funds for abortion in the district.”
The Family Research Council provided further explanation:
For those of you reading the media reports that the GOP didn’t cut Planned Parenthood funding in the omnibus, there’s a reason for that. A bill like this one requires 60 votes, whereas the budget reconciliation measure — which is how Republicans are handling the repeal of Obamacare and the defunding of Planned Parenthood — only needs 51. (And, as most people know by now, that same language already has a track record of success, passing Congress in 2015.) What’s more, adding that provision as a rider on discretionary spending bills like this one wouldn’t affect the mandatory spending programs, which also finance Planned Parenthood. Republicans are committed to severing ties with the group, but the omnibus isn’t the tool to do it. Until then, we’re keeping up the fight for a plan that recognizes: abortion isn’t health care!
Susan B. Anthony List president Marjorie Dannenfelser also said in a statement, “A majority (53.3 percent) of Americans support redirecting Planned Parenthood’s taxpayer funding to community health centers that offer a full range of primary and preventative care but do not perform or promote abortion.”
“With pro-life Republican majorities in both houses, it is incredibly disappointing that any Republican spending bill would contain continued funding for Planned Parenthood,” she added. “This makes it imperative that Republicans also move quickly on a reconciliation bill that redirects the abortion giant’s funding to community health centers.”

Donald Trump: Steve Bannon ‘a Very Decent Guy’ Getting ‘a Bad Rap’

trump

President Donald Trump defended his team of rivals in the White House, specifically his senior advisors Steve Bannon and Jared Kushner.

“Bannon … he’s actually a very good guy,” Trump said in an interview with Bloomberg News. The president joked that sometimes he called Bannon “alt-left” and suggested that he was “more of a libertarian” despite his widely recognized populist nationalist politics.
“You know, they give him a bad rap,” Trump added. “Bannon is a very decent guy who feels very strongly about the country.”
Trump defended his son-in-law Jared Kushner as “a very brilliant young guy” who was getting along with Bannon, after their widely reported feud in the White House.
“They’re getting along fine … they’re getting along well,” Trump said, although he admitted that “for a while it was a little testy” between the two of them.
He acknowledged that his team was “very competitive” and tried to dispel the notion that Kellyanne Conway and Sean Spicer were rivals. He specifically praised Sean Spicer for getting great television ratings.
“He’s become the biggest star on television now, you know?” Trump said. “He’s getting more than the ‘Bold and the Beautiful’ guys, those handsome guys that they pay a fortune, right?”
Trump said he expected to keep his team intact, but hinted that “probably people are going to get job offers.”
“You know, things happen,” he said. “But, but I’m very happy with our group. We’re doing very well.”

Bill Maher calls Elizabeth Warren 'Pocahontas' to her face

by Daniel Chaitin
It wasn't the first time Democratic Sen. Elizabeth Warren has been called as "Pocahontas," but on Friday night, liberal political comedian Bill Maher said it to her face.
It happened during an exchange on Maher's HBO show "Real Time," when Maher began exploring why the president's supporters, who are upset with establishment politics, back him instead of progressives like Warren when his administration just introduced a tax plan Maher says benefits only the rich.
"Actually I am going to push back," Warren countered.
Maher replied: "His fans are not with you."
"Hold on," Warren with a hand in the air.
"They don't like you, Pocahontas," said with a smile and a laugh from the audience. Warren mere blinked a couple times, didn't take the bait, and continued on about the progressive message.
Warren's critics like to use the "Pocahontas" nickname to mock the Massachusetts senator for claiming she has Native American ancestry.
Trump used that nickname as recently as Friday, at the National Rifle Association's annual meeting.
"I have a feeling that in the next election, you're going to be swamped with candidates but you're not going to be wasting your time," Trump said. "You'll have plenty of those Democrats coming over and you'll say, 'no, sir, no, ma'am.' It may be Pocahontas, remember that? And she is not big for the NRA, that I can tell you."
Watch the exchange between Warren and Maher below, starting at the 6-minute mark.

Mexican Nationals Arrested in Sex-for-Money With Underage Girls Bust

The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation (TBI), human trafficking unit, busted two Mexican nationals for allegedly having sex with two teenage females (ages 14 and 17) in exchange for money.

Breitbart Texas contacted the Carter County jail and verified that the men are Mexican nationals with no U.S. identification documents. Breitbart Texas also contacted U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement officials to determine if enforcement officers issued an immigration detainer and the immigration status of the two suspects. Officials could not immediately respond to this inquiry.
TBI investigators arrested Robelio E. Flores-Rivera (26) and Adan O. Vasquez-Rodriguez (34) and transported them to the Carter County jail in Tennessee. Both are in the jail on a $50,000 bond, according to information obtained by Breitbart Texas from TBI officials.
Authorities charged Flores-Rivera with aggravated statutory rape, solicitation of a minor, and patronizing prostitution of a minor.
Investigators also charged Vasquez-Rodriguez with statutory rape, solicitation of a minor, and patronizing prostitution of a minor.
TBI officials responded to an inquiry from Breitbart Texas and spokesperson Leslie Earhart wrote in an email, “At this time, we do not have any information to suggest they are connected to an international trafficking organization, however, our investigation remains active and ongoing.”
The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Human Trafficking Unit received information from the Knoxville Police Department on Sunday about a possible human trafficking case with two young females. The unit determined the location of the alleged crime – a motel in Elizabethton on Highway 19E.
Special agents from the unit worked with the Elizabethton Police Department, the First Judicial District Attorney’s Office headquartered in Washington County and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security. The District Attorney’s Office serves Washington, Unicoi, Carter and Johnson counties.
Additional charges may be brought depending on the outcome of further investigation.
The arrests were part of “Tennessee’s efforts to hold traffickers accountable,” according to a TBI statement. Officials say the state “leads the nation in its approach to addressing human trafficking.” Their website reports that the state has “proactive legislative efforts,” “comprehensive research projects,” and “an informed, multi-faceted” approach that “continues to evolve.”
The state’s website, www.ItHasToStop.com has resources, including information on how to spot human traffickers.

Liberal State Lets Illegal Criminal Walk, Until Trump Put His Foot Down

by: Remington Strelivo

Liberal State Lets Illegal Criminal Walk, Until Trump Put His Foot Down
A dangerous illegal immigrant meth dealer was given bail by an Oregon court—but now, federal immigration officials are holding him accountable.

Jose Alfredo Bustos-Bustos, 30, was leaving his third appointment at a Portland courthouse, when he was finally detained by the feds.

On Friday, he was ordered him to remain in custody until his trial—after U.S. Magistrate Judge Stacie B. Beckerman found that Bustos-Bustos was a danger to the community and a flight risk.

Given the gravity of the charges Bustos-Bustos faces, it raises eyebrows that he was even given bail in the first place, even forgetting his illegal status. Bustos-Bustos is charged with illegal possession of a firearm, and possession of methamphetamine with an attempt to distribute.
Bustos-Bustos has asked to be held at the Northwest Re-Entry Center, while he awaits trial, so he can continue to see his wife and kids. Bustos-Bustos’s wife is a U.S. citizen, and he’s attempting to gain legal residency through her.Police first caught Bustos-Bustos on January 24, when they pulled over his Dodge Avenger. His wife was driving, he was the passenger, and their two kids, age 2 and 4, were in the backseat. Also in the car were 200 grams of methamphetamine and thousands of dollars in cash.

A warrant to search the family’s apartment uncovered a whopping 1,166 grams of methamphetamine, and nine firearms scattered throughout the apartment. One of the guns, an AR-15, has a small child’s fingerprint—and police suspect that it may have been handled by Bustos-Bustos’s four-year-old.

However, despite the arrest—and despite the fact that Bustos-Bustos had checked into court multiple times for his hearings—federal officials didn’t know of Bustos-Bustos’s illegal status until the end of March, when a computer check revealed there was already an outstanding deportation order on the suspected meth dealer.

Bustos-Bustos’s wife, Miriam Avila, 25, also faces possession of methamphetamine charges, but because she’s a U.S. citizen, remains out on bail as she awaits trial.

Republicans Fold Like A Tent On Budget Deal
By DICK MORRIS
Published on DickMorris.com

When we controlled the House but not the Senate, the Republican leaders said that we couldn't use our leverage to shut down the government to secure a cut in spending.

Then, we went out and captured the Senate.

The next year, we were told that while Obama was president, we couldn't use our leverage controlling both houses to achieve our priorities by threatening a shutdown.

So, we won the next election.

Now, controlling the White House, the Senate, and the House, the Republicans folded and let the Democrats walk all over them in the short-term spending bill negotiations...or should we call it the surrender?

Here's what we didn't get:

•  Funds for a border wall
•  Cutoff for Planned Parenthood
•  Extra border security guards
•  Cutoff in Obamacare subsidies
•  Defunding sanctuary cities

Republicans in Congress say that the country would not tolerate another round of brinkmanship over keeping the government open.  They say the specter of a debt default will haunt Wall Street.  (Of course, there is no threat of a default because the Republicans can prioritize the use of existing revenues -- not borrowed funds -- to pay debt service). But Republicans say the fiction, that a shutdown would mean a debt default, is so deeply implanted that it can't be debunked.

So don't shut down the government!

Just change the procedural rule that undergirds the Democrats in the Senate:  That 60 votes are needed to pass a bill or a budget.  Lower it to 50 with a simple majority vote, just like they did on the Gorsuch nomination.
Henry Kissinger wrote: "The strong grow weak through inhibition.  The weak grow strong through effrontery."
Republicans in Congress:  Stop letting Schumer play you!  Call his bluff!

The talking heads on CNN and other fake news channels continue to whine and complain about President Donald Trump’s rally in Harrisburg, PA commemorating his first 100 days in the White House on Saturday.
One CNN bumpkinette actually compared the president to a vampire, saying he was “feeding” off his supporters.  Another said Trump’s ego “needs” these public events.
Actually, it’s not the president who “needs” these rallies so much as the president’s supporters who are constantly hammered with one negative story after another by the media.  Trump’s troops need to hear from their general and get reassurance, unfiltered, straight from the horse’s mouth.
I also love how media chatterboxes are whining that the president didn’t reach out to non-supporters.
Um, why should he?  He’s never going to win over the Trump haters and radicalized liberal snowflakes who seem to organize an anti-Trump “march” every other weekend.
It’d be nice if, after the election, Democrats accepted their defeat and looked for ways to work with the new president.  But they didn’t.  They’re like the proverbial Japanese soldier stranded on a deserted island who never got the word that World War II had ended.
Indeed, Senate Democrats tried to obstruct almost every single one of Trump’s cabinet appointments and forced Republicans to use the “Reid Option” to confirm Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court.
The D’s are still operating in campaign mode; why shouldn’t the president? As long as the Democrats and their “amen” corner in the fake news media are in open warfare with the president, there’s absolutely no reason whatsoever to try to appease them.
Say what you will about Donald Trump, but he’s no Neville Chamberlain. Thankfully.
Cheers.

“While not necessary since it is a federal facility on federal land, like any controversial project, there should be some enticement for Nevada to accept this facility. Though jobs and the attendant economic benefit of operating the repository and reprocessing facility is nice, a more acceptable solution would be to invest in the higher education facilities in Nevada to make the state’s universities the pinnacle institutions for educational matters concerning all things nuclear – engineering, energy, medicine, and physics to name a few.”

Trump Tax Plan’s 10 Things You Should Know

BY BENJAMIN ARIE

After months of speculation, the Trump administration has finally unveiled an outline of its tax plan. As with any presidential plan, the proposal will need to be debated and voted on by Congress before it becomes law.
While many details must still be hammered out, here are 10 things you should know about Trump’s plan:
1. Individuals have a higher standard deduction.
The standard deduction is a default amount of money that can be exempted from income taxes. Currently the standard deduction amount for single filers is $6,300, while the number for married couples is $12,700.
Under Trump’s plan, the standard deduction would double. A single filer would be able to deduct $12,600 from his taxes, while the deduction for joint filers would be $24,000.
In other words, “a married couple will not have to pay taxes on the first $24,000 it earns,” according to National Economic Council Director Gary Cohn.
According to Breitbart News, around one in three American taxpayers currently chooses to itemize deductions instead of taking the standard deduction. The likely result of Trump’s proposed change would be even fewer people itemizing their deductions, and a simplification of the tax filing process.
2. There are fewer tax brackets and a lower maximum rate.
One of the most noticeable changes under the proposed system is a reduction in the number of tax brackets, and a lower maximum tax rate at the top level. Instead of seven different tax brackets as there are now, the Trump proposal would have only three.
These brackets would be 10 percent, 25 percent and 35 percent.
The current top tax bracket is 39.6 percent.
3. Most itemized deductions would be eliminated.
Related to the higher standard deduction already mentioned is the elimination of most types of specific deductions. While the deductions for mortgage interest and charitable contributions would remain, other common deductions would be eliminated.
This would include the state income tax deduction, which currently helps offset costs for filers in states with high income taxes.
Individuals who find it advantageous to itemize their deductions would most likely still come out ahead, due to the dramatic increase in the standard deduction level.
4. The corporate tax rate would fall dramatically.
The next part of Trump’s proposal is good news for businesses. Corporations would see their tax rate fall from 35 percent to a much friendlier 15 percent. Throughout his campaign, Trump repeatedly pointed out that the United States has one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world.
Many small businesses are structured as limited liability companies and partnerships. These businesses would also receive dramatic tax breaks. Currently, such “pass through” income is reported on the individual tax returns of each owner, where it can be taxed at a rate up to 39.6 percent.
The new plan would permit small business taxes to stay at the lower corporate rate of 15 percent and essentially allow business owners to keep more of their hard-earned money.
5. The “death tax” and several others would disappear completely.
Several parts of the complex tax code would be eliminated under the proposed plan. One of those would be the estate tax, also known as the “death tax.” This tax was originally intended to affect wealthy Americans who die with an estate valued at more than $5.49 million.
Over time, those wealthy families have developed legal ways to avoid the estate tax. As a result, many of the estates that pay the tax consist of family farms and other so-called “unsophisticated” investments. Trump’s plan would get rid of the “death tax” entirely and remove this complexity from the tax system.
Another complex part of the tax code that Trump would eliminate is called the Alternative Minimum Tax. Many experts believe that this tax has become outdated and redundant because it was not tied to inflation when first implemented.
Additionally, the 3.8 percent tax on investment income meant to help fund the Affordable Care Act would also be cut completely.
6. We don’t yet know which brackets apply to what income.
While the administration’s plan cuts the number of tax brackets from seven to three, it did not outline exactly which income levels would fit into each bracket. For example, it is not known if somebody who makes $50,000 per year would find himself in the 10 percent or 25 percent bracket.
The new structure would likely allow all incomes to receive a tax break compared to the current level, but the specific details remain to be seen.
7. Corporate money in foreign banks may be in limbo.
A common tactic used by large U.S. corporations is to keep a significant amount of money in offshore banks. This legal approach allows the corporation to avoid many American taxes, but it also prevents it from re-investing the money on U.S. soil.
The Trump administration would like that money to return to the United States, where it can be used to create American jobs. A so-called “repatriation holiday” has been informally proposed, which would permit companies to bring money back into the country tax-free for a set period of time.
However, no details of that idea were included in the official Trump tax plan.
8. No child care tax break has been outlined.
The new proposal mentioned a special tax break for childcare, which would apply to common expenses like daycare. However, the details of this pro-family tax benefit are still murky, and no specific details have been unveiled.
9. Nobody knows for sure yet what the cost will be.
Tax cuts are always a balancing act. While individuals and businesses benefit from lower tax rates, dramatic cuts can reduce the amount of revenue flowing into Washington. If spending is not reduced at the same time, a deficit is the result.
The Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget has estimated that Trump’s plan would reduce revenue by $3 to $7 trillion. However, the Trump administration is confident that the economic growth from its plan would offset the lost revenue.
Additionally, the president and Congress may be able to introduce spending cuts to reduce the amount of taxes needed to fund the government. Until more details develop, however, the true cost or benefit of Trump’s plan will remain unknown.
10. It’s possible the proposal won’t pass.
Since taking office in January, Trump has discovered that pushing his plans through Congress may be harder than he anticipated. Skeptics have pointed to the inability to repeal Obamacare as evidence of this challenge.
One of the main problems with getting the tax proposal passed is that it might create deficits unless specific budget offsets are put in place. Many Republicans in the House and Senate are wary of plans that increase the deficit, even in the short term.
The Trump administration will be forced to convince Congress that the new plan is a net benefit for the American people — and in Washington, nothing is ever guaranteed.

China urges citizens in N. Korea to return home

By Ko Dong-hwan

The Chinese Embassy in North Korea has advised Korean-Chinese residents to return home amid concern that the North's military provocations may trigger a U.S. attack on the North, according to a source.

The embassy began sending the message on Apr. 20, five days before the North celebrated the 85th anniversary of the Korean People's Army with a show of military power, Radio Free Asia said Tuesday.

The U.S.-based station specializes in North Korea.

The station cited a Korean-Chinese living in the North's capital, who said he left for China late last month after the embassy contacted him.

He said he has been visiting China every two to three months but, after being told he should "stay in China for a while," left North Korea a month early.

"The embassy has never given such a warning. I was worried and left the country in a hurry," said the man, whose name was withheld.

But he said that most Korean-Chinese residents in Pyongyang were ignoring the message.

The city's "peaceful" atmosphere, despite the global crisis due to the state's threats involving missiles and nuclear tests, might have kept them unaware of the situation, he added.

The embassy's warning indicates that China is worried that the saber-rattling North and U.S. moves to destabilize the Kim Jong-un regime might affect Chinese citizens abroad.

The North was expected to conduct its sixth nuclear test around the 105th anniversary of the state's founder Kim Il-sung's birth on Apr. 15 and/or on the national military anniversary on Apr. 25.

The test did not happen on either day, except a fizzled missile test on Apr. 29.

Newt Gingrich DESTROYS “crazy” Hillary (she’s lost it!)

Hillary Clinton refuses to go away, and she wants America to know that she’s still upset — and it has gotten so bad, critics have begun questioning her sanity.
Hillary’s latest public appearance on Tuesday was an embarrassing disaster for the twice-failed Democratic presidential candidate. Her unhinged post-election meltdown continued during her appearance at the Women for Women International Conference.
Former Speaker of the House Newt Gingrich and others were quick to criticize the episode, saying Hillary had lost her “grips with reality.”
“It’s like watching a car wreck in slow motion,” Gingrich said in a recent appearance on Fox News. “The number one problem with the Hillary campaign was Hillary Clinton.”
Hillary told the audience she accepted “absolute personal responsibility” for her embarrassing defeat in November — and then, less than a minute later, began blaming everyone and everything for her failures.
“I was on the way to winning until a combination of [FBI Director] Jim Comey’s letter on October 28th and Russian WikiLeaks raised doubts in the minds of people who were inclined to vote for me but were scared off,” Hillary complained. “If the election were on October 27, I’d be your president.”
But it’s not just the FBI and Russia’s fault.
When she was asked by moderator Christiane Amanpour if she was a victim of misogyny, Hillary whined, “Yes, I do think it played a role.”
That’s right. According to Hillary, it wasn’t the lying, the corruption, or the Clinton’s shady foreign connections that cost her the White House.
Instead, Hillary still believes she lost because American taxpayers are sexist pigs.
The shameful meltdown even left mainstream media journalists shaking their heads.
The New York Times’ White House correspondent tweeted the following reply —
Hillary takeaways 1) Loathes Trump 2) blames Comey/Putin 3) the 'real' Hillary-funny, hard-edged, unguarded 4) blames everyone but self
“[Donald Trump] won, she lost, and it’s kind of sad to watch her repeat the, ‘somebody else made me do it,’ kind of analysis,” Gingrich said about Hillary.
Even President Donald Trump couldn’t help put take a few shots at Hillary’s pathetic blame-game —
FBI Director Comey was the best thing that ever happened to Hillary Clinton in that he gave her a free pass for many bad deeds! The phony...
...Trump/Russia story was an excuse used by the Democrats as justification for losing the election. Perhaps Trump just ran a great campaign?
It’s really simple in the end. Hillary’s nasty refusal to accept responsibility for her failures is exactly the reason she was rejected.

America wanted a leader, not a mental case.

1950’s movie star STUNS fans by backing France’s pro-Trump president

The French presidential election is set for Sunday and nations across the globe are on the edge of their seats, anxiously awaiting the outcome.

Now famous 1950’s French movie icon Brigitte Bardot is weighing in with her two cents, adding to the global attention on the tense runoff and proving that U.S. President Donald Trump is influencing politics across the Atlantic.

Candidate Marine Le Pen’s campaign mirrors Trump’s in many ways. She advocates for closed borders, increased military power, and a fierce fight against radical Islamic terror.

And Bardot is on board.

The movie star slammed Le Pen’s opponent Emmanuel Macron, saying in a tweet Tuesday, “the contempt he gives to animal suffering can be seen in the total lack of empathy reflected in the coldness of his steel eyes,” Breitbart translated.

A brutal condemnation just days before the election that will decide France’s fate.

She also endorsed Le Pen in an interview with La Figaro, responding to a question about Le Pen’s anti-migration policies with a beautiful answer proving her love for her country.

“I am very patriotic. I was raised by a father and grandfather who fought for France and instilled in me a love for my homeland. I am not proud of what France is today.”

She continued, saying Len Pen “has the will to take France in hand, to restore borders and give priority to the French.”

The latest polls show Macron ahead with 60 percent to Le Pen’s 40 — but if we learned anything from Trump’s victory it’s that polls don’t hold the truth… and anything could happen.
